Comments about Paterson Triple Darkroom Timer:
This timer is just confusing. You have sliders on the side to select one of three timers or all three or the clock. You have to move a slider to set the times and then back to lock. The buttons on the front are easy to use once you set it up but you still have to switch between timers with the slider. I could love that if they had made this WATER and HUMIDITY resistant for typical darkroom conditions. But they didn't. Mine got fried after two weeks. I dried it out and it works except for the memory button which I found especially useful. Considering the extensive handling you have to go through why in the world would you make something that is suceptible to dampness.

I am using this timer for dark room film development and print processing. It seems to work effectively but sometimes it will reset itself for no reason.

Comments about Paterson Triple Darkroom Timer:
I use this timer to monitor my B&W film developing in daylight. (I do not think that it glows in the dark).
I could have used 1 good single timer and reset it for each operation but could not find one that counted the seconds from the start and then counted up when the time was up (Except the more expensive models). This unit has 3 timers going up to 20 hours each and starts counting down by seconds as soon as you start it.
Each timer counts down independently (and then up after they have reached zero). You access and set the timers by sliding buttons on the side. This is the weakness of this product IMHP. Although there is a magnet in the back, it is definItely a hand held timer. You have to take it in hand in order to be able to slide the timers access and set/lock buttons.
There is also a fourth position that shows the time of day and a nice stop watch feature that counts up and in 100ths of a second. This is great for taking long exposures with a camera. There is also a memory.
The front buttons for start, stop, memory and clear, as well as those for setting hours, minutes and seconds, are well spaced and as wide as your finger.
I find that it is a good quality unit. It came with a quality AAA battery (Toshiba). I wish that the unit was a little big bigger in the hand and that the sliding buttonS were punch-in buttons instead so that I would not have to take the timer in my hand between developing operations, as I am busy enough going from the developer to the stop bath to the fixer. On the other hand the timers's portability allows me to take my developing tank to my computer desk and spend the 10 minutes the fixer needs to do its job, doing some of my own.
Of course this unit with its 3 independant timers will be great in the kitchen although the alarm could be louder.
