The white SH-50 iHS Digital Camera from Olympus is a compact point-and-shoot digital camera with a 16MP sensor, powerful 24x optical zoom lens, touch screen LCD, Full HD video and a host of assistive and creative features. The 16MP Back Side Illuminated CMOS sensor combined with the TruePic VI Image Processor provide rich, detailed, colorful images and fast transfer and performance speeds. Full HD 1080p video capture with a dedicated one-touch button and HDMI output is supported by the SH-50 iHS and the 3.0" LCD screen not only offers image composition and playback but its touch control allows you to select autofocus points, adjust colors and release the shutter.
The lens on the SH-50 iHS is a 24x wide-angle optical zoom that provides the focal length equivalency of 25-600mm in the 35mm format. At 25mm, you have a true wide-angle lens that can shoot expansive vistas, interiors and inclusive group shots and 600mm is a super-telephoto length that can magnify distant subjects or shoot creative close-ups. A digital zoom function is also available for even further reach if necessary. And 3-Axis Image Stabilization offers clearer images by reducing the blurring effects of camera shake when shooting at long telephoto lengths and in low light situations. In video mode a 5-Axis stabilization system allows you to shoot while walking and still have smooth, blur-free videos.
Complete manual exposure control is possible on the SH-50 iHS and numerous assistive features make it easy to get the best shot possible. Intelligent Auto makes all camera adjustments to capture your images with the optimal settings and Scene Modes allow you to match the camera's settings to the scene you are shooting, whether it be Sports, Sunset, Night Portrait. One-touch Panorama is supported and Hand-held Starlight Mode creates clear night and low-light images without a tripod by blending together a series of shots into one crisp image. Creative Art Filters, such as Watercolor, Fisheye and Miniature are available to add special effects to your images and Beauty Mode lets you smooth out wrinkles, whiten teeth and add touch-ups for perfect portraiture.

- The image processing engine on the SH-50 iHS offer fast transfer and performance speeds and allows the camera to shoot both high resolution photos and Full HD video with accurate colors and minimal noise.
- 24x Wide-angle Optical Zoom Lens
- With a focal range that runs from 25-600mm in the 35mm format, the lens on the SH-50 iHS provides shooting lengths from true wide-angle to super-telephoto. The wide-angle allows for group shots and expansive vistas and the powerful telephoto lengths can bring distant subjects in for close-ups. The Super Macro Mode offers clear close-ups as close as 1.18" (3 cm). The maximum aperture at the wide-angle end is f/3.0 which will gather sufficient light for clear low-light photography.
- 2x Super Resolution Zoom and 4x Digital Zoom
- A Super Resolution Zoom function allows you to double your zoom range to 48x for extreme close-ups and a 4x Digital Zoom will bring you even closer.
- 1080p Full HD Video with Dedicated Button and Advanced Movie Mode
- A one-touch button allows you to record videos with amazing clarity in Full HD 1080p video. The SH-50 iHS offers Multi-Motion Movie IS, which is a newly developed image stabilization technique that helps to reduce the blur created by camera movement when shooting video. Micro HDMI (Type D) output makes playing back videos on your HDTV simple. High Speed 720p HD video is supported at 120fps for slow-motion playback and you can shoot still photos while recording video by simply pushing the shutter release.

- The Olympus SH-50 iHS employs 5-axis stabilization for video recording. This image stabilization technology compensates for blur that occurs across 5 directions on three separate planes of motion: angular, transitional and rotary. By combining powerful mechanical and electronic hybrid image stabilization, videos appear smooth and clear.
- 3.0" LCD Touch Screen and ShootM
- This 3.0" LCD with 460k-pixel resolution features anti-glare technology for easier composing and shooting even in direct sunlight. Touch screen control provides intuitive operation of LCD brightness, autofocus, shutter release (ShootM) and other important settings.
- Live Guide
- Live Guide lets you see the results of your shot before you shoot and change the way you take the picture. Easily adjust the brightness and color by touching the guide bar and previewing the effects on the 3.0" Touch Panel LCD.
- 3-Axis Image Stabilization
- The SH-50 iHS is equipped with image stabilization that mechanically compensates for rotary shift as well as horizontal and vertical angular shift. The 3-axis Photo IS corrects blur along the optical axis for crisp, blur-free images in low light and when shooting at telephoto lengths.

- An ISO range from 80-12400 offers rich saturated colors in bright sunlight and accurate color, low-noise imaging in low light situations.
- High Speed Continuous Shooting
- Shoot 2.5 frames per second up to 200 images at full resolution or at 11.5fps for up to 17 frames. At lower resolution you can shoot as fast at 60.3 frames per second up to 60 images.
- Tele-Macro Mode
- You can capture clear, close-up images of subjects at a distance with the tele macro function which allows for blur-free shots as close as 15.7" (40cm) even at the telephoto end of the zoom range.
- Hand-held Starlight Mode
- At night and in low-light situations where image blur is more likely to occur, Hand-Held Starlight mode captures multiple images and stitches them together into a single, crisp photo.
- Face Detection
- Face Detection automatically recognizes your subjects' faces and optimizes exposure for sharp, brilliant portraits.
- Shadow Adjustment Technology (HDR)
- HDR Mode compensates for shadowed areas to minimize the differences in highlight and shadowed areas resulting in more uniform exposure across the image. When used together with iAuto or Face Detection, the subject's face is shot with optimal exposure settings so that the face can be seen clearly even under strong back light conditions.
