The Lumix DMC-LZ30 Digital Camera from Panasonic offers the ease and features of a point-and-shoot camera but with DSLR-like handling and control and a very powerful 35x optical zoom lens. Its 16.1MP CCD sensor and Venus Engine image processor provide sharp images, accurate colors and fast performance and its 35x optical zoom lens stretches from ultra wide-angle to super-telephoto length to capture almost any shot you can imagine. This lens offers the 35mm equivalent focal length of a 25-875mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.0 at the wide-angle end. This aperture is wide enough to capture low light action and the camera's Optical Image Stabilization will compensate for camera shake to provide clear photos and videos when shooting at the long lengths that this lens offers. If you need to reach a bit further, a 78.8x Extra Optical Zoom feature is available at reduced resolution.
720p HD video recording is also supported by the LZ30 and a dedicated one-touch button will take you instantly from photo mode to video. A 3.0" Intelligent LCD screen is provided for composition and playback, it provides 11-step auto brightness that automatically adjusts as lighting conditions change.
The LZ30 offers fast autofocus and its Intelligent Auto mode allows the camera to set all optimal adjustments while you compose and shoot. If you want your settings to be even more specific, 8 individual Scene Modes, such as Panorama, Sunset or Night Portrait, offer predefined settings that correspond to the scene you are shooting. High Dynamic Range is included in the Scene Modes to capture balanced images that contain both shadows and bright areas. Four photo aspect ratios are available: 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and square-shaped 1:1. Manual exposure control is also provided by the LZ30 so you can adjust aperture and shutter speed to create images exactly the way you envision.
For expressive imaging, Creative Control and Creative Retouch allow you to add (before or after you shoot) effects that give your images that something special, whether it be a Retro look, Toy Effect or One Point Color. Creative Panorama offers the same effects for panorama images.
The DMC-LZ30 provides 100MB of internal memory in case your memory card fills up and it's conveniently powered by 4 AA batteries. PHOTOfunSTUDIO 9.0 image management software is included with your camera.

- A 16.1MP CCD Sensor offers high quality imaging even in low light conditions and the Venus Engine Image Processor provides fast performance speeds.
- 35x Optical Zoom Lens
- A 35x ultra wide-angle optical zoom lens provides the 35mm focal length equivalent of a 25-875mm lens. This incorporates an incredibly wide range of shooting possibilities from ultra wide-angle to super-telephoto. With this range of focal lengths you can shoot group shots and interiors at the wide-angle end and simply zoom to capture close-ups of subjects at great distance. The maximum aperture at the wide-angle end is f/3.0 which is capable of shooting clear images in low light. An Extra Optical Zoom function is also available which uses the center part of the CCD to extend this 35x zoom to powerful 78.8x zoom at a resolution of 3MP or less. To ensure sharpness and greater color fidelity, the lens' optical design features 1 aspherical and 3 Extra-low Dispersion lens elements.
- 720p HD Video with Dedicated One-touch Button
- 720p HD video recording at 30 frames per second is available with a dedicated button that switches you immediately from photo into video mode. Both Intelligent Auto (iA) and Optical Image Stabilization are supported for video.
- 3.0" Intelligent LCD Display
- Composition and playback are viewed with the large 3.0" TFT Color LCD display with 460,000 pixel resolution. It provides 100% field of view and features the Intelligent LCD function which automatically adjusts the screen's brightness according to shooting conditions.
- Optical Image Stabilization
- Optical Image Stabilizer compensates for the effects of camera shake in both photo and video mode. It provides you with clearer images in low light and when shooting at telephoto lengths.
- Intelligent Auto
- In the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose your shot and capture the moment. Combining Automatic ISO and Exposure, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Detection and MEGA O.I.S. into one mode, the camera's detection and correction functions adjust the camera to its best possible setting.
- Manual Exposure Control
- The DMC-LZ30 provides easy-to-use manual exposure control. You can set the aperture to control the depth of field, and adjust the shutter speed to freeze moving subjects or create a motion blur that emphasizes the feeling of movement. Manual exposure allows for greater creativity and control and is the key to developing your shooting skills.
- Aspect Ratios
- The LZ30 shoots in four aspect ratios. Its native ratio is 4:3 offers numerous resolution levels and it also captures in 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 at higher resolutions.
- Scene Modes including HDR
- Scene Modes provide predefined settings to make shooting certain types of scenes easier. The Scene Modes are: Panorama Shot, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Food, Baby, Sunset, High Sensitivity, and High Dynamic Range.
- Macro Zoom
- By using 3x digital zoom you can pull subjects even closer than the minimum wide-angle focus point, thus creating dramatic macro close-ups.
- Creative Control and Retouch Modes
- With Creative Control you can add expressive effects such as Sepia, Soft Focus and Miniature Effect to your images before you shoot or, with Creative Retouch, add those same effects after you have shot your images.
- Built-in Memory
- The LZ30 provides 100MB of built-in memory when your memory card is filled or in case you just don't have it.
