This is the kind of lens that is used every day, all of the time. It's not 5 star quality b/c it's a zoom lens and the widest aperture is f-3.5. However, it serves the purpose of allowing you to shoot from slightly wider than normal to almost twice as long as normal (normal being about 43). If you want a better quality lens, stick with the fixed focal length lenses. Minolta makes good quality glass, so this is slighly better than say a sigma zoom lens - but again, since it's a zoom lens, it's not the same as a fixed focal length lens.

I use this lens for family portrits and for landscape. The great thing about it is it makes my 45mm lens unnecessary. But it isn't much of a wide angle lens so I am buying a 28mm wide angle lens to compliment it.

The Zoom is very nice, it works well as an easy mid to low range lens. and for the price, you can't beat it. built by japanese for the minolta company, it fit fine and works well with my SR-T101 minolta camera.

Well this lens says its a wide angle but im not sure about that yet. Otherwise it shoots great and fits my minolta x-370 perfect. VERY light weight compared to my focal 100-210mm zoom lens. The price is really what got me though. Best price for a lens like this ive ever seen.
