The A PRE 500 500-Series Microphone Preamplifier from Aphex is a single-slot 500-Series microphone preamp based on the Aphex 188 microphone preamp. It is designed for live and studio use on vocals, acoustic guitars, percussion, organs, and electric pianos. The A PRE 500 features an Aphex designed input transformer and a Jensen JT-11DL nickel output-balancing transformer. It has built-in 48-volt phantom power, phase reversal, a 26dB pad, and a high-pass filter at 75Hz that are controllable by the front-panel illuminated buttons. The A PRE 500 has a selectable output of 16, 20, or 24dB.
The front panel 1/4" instrument input allows you to connect an instrument such as bass or guitar to the A PRE 500 without the need for a DI box. This input overrides the input on the rear of your 500-Series power supply when connected. You can monitor your input levels with the 20-segment input meter located on the front panel. With 65dB of input gain, the A PRE 500 can be used with dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones. It requires a 500-Series power supply for operation.
