The Sony ICD-SX1000 Digital Flash Voice Recorder features 16GB of internal flash memory and is capable of capturing audio as PCM WAV or MP3 files. It can record up to 636 hours of 48kbps quality MP3 files and has a microSD slot for additional storage needs. The SX1000 has selectable automatic or manual record levels, allowing you to let the device adjust recording levels itself or control the levels yourself. The unit is powered by its built-in rechargeable battery. The retractable USB terminal allows you to transfer your files to your Mac or PC as well as recharge the SX1000. Sony includes a pair of stereo headphones, a stand, a carrying case, and a windscreen.

- Dual AD Convertors
- The dual analog to digital converters work in tandem to deliver wider dynamic range with minimized distortion. They are capable of resolutions up to 24-bit/96kHz. The result is recordings that capture everything from the quietest whisper to the loudest noise in the room and all things in between
- S-MASTER Digital Amplification
- S-Master digital amplification faithfully reproduces your recordings, including 192kHz/24-bit resolution files
- Memory Card Expansion Slot
- A built-in Memory Card Expansion Slot (microSD/M2) allows for additional recording time via removable flash memory. It can also be used to transfer recordings to a computer. Thanks to the cross-memory recording feature, the recorder can automatically extend a recording from the built-in flash memory to the micro SD card to avoid interruption
- Automatic/Manual Record Level
- The recorder can be configured to automatically adjust recording levels for optimum results, or when necessary allow for manual control. In manual mode, a Limiter Function prevents recording distortion from loud sounds
- Pre-Record Mode
- Pre-Record mode, when activated, buffers sound for five seconds prior to the moment when the Record key is depressed so you never miss a word or note
- Built-In Lithium-Ion Battery
- A built-in rechargeable battery delivers up to 19 hours of recording time
