Comments about Beyerdynamic M160 - Hyper-Cardioid Handheld Ribbon Microphone:
I had high expectations when I bought this mic, and it easily beat my expectations. In the week I've had the mic, it's been used on live acoustic guitar--where its hypercardioid pattern allows excellent gain before feedback while sounding like a real guitar. I used it on my voice and it stands up well against the best dynamic and ribbon mics I ever used, (yes, I know ribbon mics ARE dynamics.) I've always preferred ribbon mics on electric guitar, and the M160 delivers a well-rounded and accurate rendering on my deluxe reverb amp. Just beautiful there!
I haven't tried it yet as an overhead or room mic, but from what I've heard so far, it will do fine there as well.
Typical Beyer fit and finish. You know this is quality the first second you pick it up.
I haven't found anything to complain about yet, nor do I expect to.
