The hyper-cardioid polar pattern provides a focused pick up area while minimizing noise and off-axis feedback. The M69TG features a dynamic element that provides high headroom and minimal peak distortion. The sound is so amazing you'll have no doubt why it is so expensive. I would say this mic offers an enhanced proximity effect. The closer you get, the warmer and deeper the sound, much more so, and more pleasing, than cheaper microphones (like Shure). This also offers great sound for guitars and amps.
The build quality of Beyerdynamic products is precise and beautiful. This mic is quite heavy really, so its little wonder you never see anyone actually holding one.
