The DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones are comfortable closed-back headphones for professionals who require a full bass sound as well as clinically accurate high and mid-range reproduction, and is an indispensable tool for audio and video professionals.
By design, headphones eliminate the acoustic interaction with a room that can affect the recording and monitoring of audio signals. The DT 770 Pro provides an excellent reference environment, the standard against which open-air room listening is judged.

Over my previous pair the MDR-7506 the sound stage is deeper, with the ear cup being large your ears feel like they are floating in a sea of music if that makes any sense. The distance from the driver generates way better Bass than my previous cans. I don't have any problem hearing everything I want to hear. I use these for gaming and music both of which they perform well. My bias comes that I like bass heavy rifts. So without being too subjective on SQ since we all hear differently, stronger Bass than any other headphone I have put on(for better or for worst is up to you), Deep cans and excellent sound stage with closed back levels of isolation. I couldn't compare these to open back as I enjoy my privacy.
Sound isolation is great, I can set volume to uncomfortable levels without people being able to hear in, so at comfortable levels its pretty silent from the outside. While music is being played I am almost completely isolated from the outside world, it took someone screaming and waving their arms next to me before I could tell them what I wanted for dinner.
Just a warning, the 250ohm version require an amp greater than cheaper 300ohm max amps.

I wouldn't call these reference headphones. I have many other pairs including, 7506's, HD 580's, HD 202's, K-66's and a few other cheap ones to compare to.They do sound deep, clear, and spacious, but my mixes don't translate well with them. I think they lack in mid range and could be considered having a smiley face. Also the pads have ripped and the replacements are [$]. They also come apart fairly often at the hinges.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
I use these phones for location recording of classical music. They are much more comfortable than phones I've used previously (Sony 7506, SV6) and provide pretty good isolation.
I would describe their sound as accurate and neutral, not nearly so forward as the Sonys.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
Very comfortable very durable. Very natural sounding very NOT hyped. a/b with sony 7506, they sound dark and not scooped. The Beyer's are much more accurate headphones. mine are the 250ohm, so they need a good headphone amp, so i would have gotten the 80ohm if i had know there was that option...

Solid build quality and amazing sound. Great value for the price. Just know that you'll need to use an amp with these headphones if you plan on using them for iPod/computer listening. There's a great introductory amp that you can cheaply assemble yourself called the "Mini CMoy" amp -- just Google that for details.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
You will never hear headphones as brilliant as these with punchy bass with clear mids and highs. The one and only reason you should consider anything but these in the price range is if you prefer headphones with no bass.
I have no idea how they got it to kick but stay controlled at the same time, but these sound amazing. You will not be disappointed.
Extremely light and very sturdy, and just ridiculously comfortable. I have nothing bad to say!

I can listen to rap one minute and rock the next and these phones deliver. I can't believe how well they handle all types of music, from the Beatles to techno these phones have yet to let me down. They do need an amp tho to be pushed to the limits they were built for as a 250ohm is a very high ohm phone for a standalone portable device.

Extremely comfortable headphones. Sound quality - the low ends are awesome and mids and highs are good too. When you listen you can hear reverbs and other sounds you didn't even realize were there before. Overall great headphones and would highly recommend it for anyone using for studio purposes.

Beautiful clear uncolored sound. A great way to enjoy expensive musical gears.
Solid construction, looks like it's made to last.
Suitable for all types of music.
The best studio headphones I had in a long time.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
I was looking for a very comfortable pair of headphones for location sound work. My ears aren't really big per se - but they do splay out enough that most other headphones pinch my ears over time. These seemed to fit the bill. The sound is great and the fit is nice. They do also help block out outside sound - I have to pull them off to hear people talking around me.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
Audio is my business, and as the manufacturer claims ("Closed reference headphone for critical music and sound applications"), these would be perfect for what is do, but... they are far away from perfect, furthermore, these headphones would mislead me. They are not reference headphones, far away from the "reference" category, and not good for monitoring (poor dynamics). I guess they accidentally placed a sub-woofer in these headphones, the dynamics of these are worst then my ear-buds, and i cannot, in no way, hear half of the 35khz response.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
I use them for monitoring in my professional studio. Singers find them very comfortable with a big open hi fi sound. You either like the big glossy Beyer 770 sound or you don't. Some people prefer a flatter frequency response with the sound closer on the ear. The Beyers have a deeper bigger sound stage. Plenty of hi and low end but the mid range is still coherent. This is my second pair so no surprises.

Comments about Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Studio Headphones:
These make excellent headphones for listening either for pleasure or for critical listening. They are lightweight and comfortable for extended listening times, and their closed back design means you won't be disturbing others in the process. The also offer excellent fidelity. Please note, this model is 250 ohm, meaning you need a bit of headphone pre-amp power to power these. If you are planning to plug into portable listening devices (mp3 players, etc), you might want to check out the 80 ohm model. While mostly plastic in design, the prongs holding the ear cups are metal adding durability, but can pinch your fingers when putting them on or removing them if your fingers are in the way of their movement. Highly recommended.

I've owned a variety of headphones in my lifetime and I have to say, the Beyerdynamic DT 770 are some of the best I've had, if not THE best, in recent memory.
Superb audio quality. Extremely well-balanced frequency response and accurate reproduction. The output is not fatiguing at all. I can wear these for hours on end. This also speaks for how comfortable they are. They feel great on my head and around my ears.
Overall, a great pair of professional closed-back headphones that I would recommend to anyone.
