I use this filter on my Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L lenses. Cleaning it requires only slightly more effort than involved in a cheaper filter, which is not multi-coated; however, the build quality, fit and flare elimination features make this filter well worth its price.

Don't buy this
The UV coating was all jacked on this. I tried another Hoya UV(0) at my local camera store and it was jacked. Try B+W.

This filter is well made. It "feels" well designed. Screws on to the lens without any hesitation or resistance.
The glass does not introduce any noticeable distortion. The glass cleans easily without any smudges. I tend to keep a filter like this on my lens all the time to protect the lens itself. So far I've seen no reason to remove it.

I always have this filter on my Canon 24-70mm lens. On the July 4 weekend, I dropped my camera bag and the filter was broken. The lens didn't even a scratch. I went B&H and bought another one exactly the same. I love this filer.

Great quality. I own several UV's and polarizers from Hoya and have been very pleased with the results I have gotten using them. UV's stay on pretty much all the time and offer great protection.

My advice is simple: buy UV filters, just don't use them if your environment is safe. Have been using those hoya HMC super for some years and am satisfied so I just stick with those.

I use several sizes of the Hoya Super HMC on my glass. They stay on all the time except when I use a circular polarizer. Super high transmission, low reflection, low flare. Great quality, silky threads. An essential.

I have nothing but the best to say the Hoya S-HMC filter. Have a number of them and keep going back. I do not have a problem cleaning them, they come on and off with ease. Quality at a fair price.

Works well in all conditions, doesn't seem to effect color or exposure, easy to screw onto lens.
I find these work better than the "Pro Digital" line as those have really short bezels and my lens cap doesn't grip it well.
