The Xpander 4U Rack Mount Elite Expansion Solution from Cubix is a 4U rack mount PCIe expansion enclosure that enables connection of graphics or other controllers to a host computer. The expansion enclosure adds 6 full-length, full-height PCIe slots to your current broadcast production set Mac Pro or PC workstation without the need to replace it.
The Xpander Elite features 8 PCIe slots; 4 double-wide PCIe Gen2 x16 electrical slots for GPUs, 2 single-wide PCIe Gen2 x8 electrical slots for cards such as video capture or Red Rockets, and 2 single-wide PCIe x4 mechanical slots with electrical power only. You can add multiple RED Rocket cards, high-performance nVIDIA Quadro Series graphics by PNY, fiber optic Host Bus Adapters, RAID controllers and PCIe-based Solid State Drives, each of these using only one slot in the host workstation or server.
The Xpander Elite is designed for broadcasters and digital cinema production sets that require plenty of additional power and PCIe slots, while maintaining a small physical footprint and whisper-quiet operation. Using only 1 PCIe x16 slot in a host PC or Mac Pro, the Xpander rack mount Elite provides you with 6 additional full-length, full-height PCIe slots for multiple nVIDIA graphics cards, SDI capture cards from Blackmagic Design, AJA, nVIDIA and others.
The Xpander Elite features integrated remote management, front panel LCD system status read-out and control interface, a 1500W power supply, as well as four variable-speed temperature-controlled exhaust fans for cooling even the most demanding PCIe devices. This means one Xpander Elite can process up to 12 HD-SDI data streams simultaneously (depending upon application and capture devices used), while operating in near silence within a mobile production rack cabinet with its host workstation and third-party storage systems.
