Red Giant Effects Suite 11 Customer Upgrade is an electronic download of a suite of plug-ins for creating 3D shapes, and VFX. This is a volume license upgrade requiring a minimum purchase of 12 units and is available to volume license holders of any version of Knoll Light Factory. You can mix and match activations between Mac and Windows, and the suite can reside on a network. The suite supports both Windows and Mac platforms, and works with select versions of Adobe After Effects. Individual plug-ins may also support select versions of Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion.

Red Giant Effects Suite features a variety of tools providing a wide range of capabilities. Create believable and dramatic lens flares using Knoll Light Factory. PlaneSpace manages complex comps using 3D layers, including video as a layer, to create 3D shapes. You can use Psunami to create realistic and dramatic water effects, and use the Holomatrix plug-in to create holographic looking effects. Image Lounge is a series of filters for adding impact to your footage. Composite Wizard provides you the tools to gain control over difficult to key shots. The Warp toolsets allows you to easily work with warped footage and bring it seamlessly into your composite. ToonIt adds a variety of cartoonish looks to your footage, giving you the rotoscope effects, without the rotoscope process. The included Text anarchy toolset gives you control over text, write on/write off, control letters individually, or create a background using text.

Volume License Upgrade
  • This version of the Effects Suite requires a minimum purchase of 12 units.
  • This upgrade is for owners of volume licenses for any version of Knoll Light Factory
  • You can only upgrade the number of licenses that you already own; additional licenses are not eligible for this upgrade.
  • The suite is cross platform, and you can mix and match the licenses across the Mac and Windows platform.
  • For those using host applications across a network, the volume license also works across a network allowing you simultaneous uses up to the number of licenses you have purchased.
Knoll Light Factory
Red Giant teamed with John Knoll to update the lens flare engine he developed to create realistic lens flare effects, glints, and reflections to films. The plug-in now supports 32-bit color for more photorealistic flares, and no banding artifacts. It ships with more than 100 presets that you can customize and save. You can also build your own lens flares with the built-in lens designer. Settings are keyframeable, so you can animate and tweak your flare effect. Included in Knoll Light Factory are pre-built animation behaviors that can spare you from building your own animations. The plug-in works in 3D space, interacting with After Effects 3D lights, allowing you to move and sync flares in 3D space for improved realism.
    • The redesigned the workflow of Knoll Light Factory, keeps the best features and functions of previous versions and combines new presets with all the presets from version 2.7 into one simplified interface. The new Lens Designer window is a powerful and easy to use lens flare design tool.
    • In addition to new presets, favorite presets from Knoll 2.7, such as Maple Tree and Desert Sun, have been rebuilt and support 4K resolution (and beyond), while maintaining their beautiful look.
    • The new Lens Designer interface features 28 Elements like, Star Filter and Lens Texture, which replicate light reflections from the real world. Red Giant also crafted 56 Sprites, which are static shapes like Prism Streak and Star that you can use to build a flare, and the 51 Element Presets provide you with a wide range of customization.
    • You can import your own bitmap image into Knoll Light Factory using the Image Sprite feature. With controls such as Scale, Position and Offset, this feature allows you to create custom flares that are all yours.
    • The new Behavior Group lets you automatically create popular light animations like Blink, Flicker, Pulse and Strobe. You can customize these pre-built behaviors by adjusting options such as brightness, fade and duration.
    • The included 104 lens flare presets are just a jumping off point to creating realistic or dramatic flares. Emulating real-life lenses and lights, the presets, created by John Knoll, are a part of your effects library.
    • The new Edge Reaction flares or fades light at the comp edge, so you can make the sun appears to pass through a scene. Obscuration now recognizes 3D space in After Effects, convincingly hiding your flare behind that looming spaceship.
    • Knoll Light Factory supports 32-bit color depth, eliminating banding artifacts from your lens flares.
    • 3D Effects
      • In the real world, light sources are 3D and your light flares should be 3D too. The plug-in now talk to After Effects' built-in lights, letting them share values like color and intensity, so you can sync a flare with animated lights in 3D space.
    • Host Application Support
      • Knoll Light Factory works as a plug-in for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Apple's Final Cut Pro 7 and Motion 4.
PlaneSpace
PlaneSpace manages 3D layers within After Effects; you can use it to create layers that form cubes, spheroids, and other shapes. You can also use the tools, often referred to as Assistants, to arrange 3D layers into various shapes. Once a 3D layer is created, PlaneSpace can manage it. There is no limit to the number of layers that the plug-in can manage, and if you have imported video as 3D layer, that can also be managed by PlaneSpace. Using the plug-in you can easily morph one shape into another, without needing to manipulate a complex animation process. The control panels are divided into two groups, a Lite group for quickly building shapes, while the Pro version gives you more control.
    • Creator Tools
      • Use the Creator Tools/Assistants to generate boxes, cylinders, a matrix, or spheroid. Different tools feature a host of keyframeable options to set up the scale, number of layer, height and width. There are even controls for randomizing the settings result.
    • Distribution tools
      • The Distribution Tools let you distribute layers around a sphere, cube, cylinder, line, plane, or pyramid. Different from the Creator tools, distribution tools build off the base shape. For example, you can use a cylinder distribution tool to create arrangements that look like fans, a corkscrew, or a staircase with just a few clicks.
    • You can turn video into a 3D layer within After Effects, then PlaneSpace can then be used to manage that video/layer.
    • PlaneSpace supports and manipulates an unlimited number of layers, the only limit is your computer's processing power. You can duplicate and distribute large groups of layers, even hundreds at a time.
    • Control palettes are divided into two categories, Pro and Lite. There are six Lite tools that let you quickly build a shape with minimum work, while the ten Pro tools offer more control over placement and repetition
    • You can use two of the creator tools to animate one shape into another.
    • Host Application Support
      • PlaneSpace works within After Effect's 3D space so animation and effects can be easily integrated with multiple cameras and lights.
Psunami
Psunami generates precise 3D geometry of an ocean surface, then produces ultra-realistic ray-traced output that looks like real water. Psunami lets you animate detailed 3D oceanographic effects, and you can even submerge your virtual camera underwater. Psunami incorporates the RenderWorld ray-tracing engine from Arete Image Software, to render the water effects. Use Psunami's reflection mapping and atmospheric effects tools to add realism to the shot. The grayscale mode provides a fast preview of your water. Psunami allows you to render with realistic looking depth of field, for more realistic look and composites. You can also select to tile water patterns and loop water motion for increased rendering speed and quicker project set up.
    • Psunami uses Arete Image Software's RenderWorld ray-tracing engine - the same renderer used in big budget movies. It features tools for animating Swell, Wind, Air and Light Optics, Depth of Field and it has built-in image maps to create water effects that range from naturalistic to dramatic.
    • Hundreds of presets help you create a wide variety of realistic water environments. Tweak and adjust these presets, add in a sky and reflect it off the water. Use the Time Stretch feature to create slow-motion scenes, or created an animated wind effect, to quickly change the look of your waves.
    • Psunami allows you to set the tilt, pan, roll and elevation for waves and swells. Use the Field of View tool to show surface detail or Bobbing Platform to activate a virtual floating camera. For dramatic effects you can use Displacement Mapping to create whirlpools, or wakes.
    • Built-in atmospheric tools allow you to add fog, rainbows or haze to your shot.
    • You can define water patterns and tile them to speed up the render, while retaining realism. You can also loop your water effects for a seamless animation.
    • Slider Settings are customizable and keyframeable so you animate your effects over the duration of the clip.
    • Host Application Support
      • Psunami works as a plug-in for select versions of Adobe After Effects and Apple Final Cut Pro.
Holomatrix
Holomatrix is script based and works a little bit differently than other plug-ins that work within After Effects. However, the simplified user interface allows you to interact with Holomatrix in a way that is similar to what you may be used to. However, you can also delve deeper into the plug-in, for more control. Effects can be keyframed on and off, or you can allow the program to randomly apply the effect over the duration of clip. Effects are keyframeable, so you can animate them, and you can also save your own settings as a preset. Holomatrix allows you to scale the effect based on the output format you select. This automatically adjusts how the effect is applied to account for the differences in resolution between SD, 720p, and 1080.
    • Holomatrix comes with over 30 presets ready to use and adjust. Included presets include; Ghost, Terrible Reception, Bad Reception, OK Reception, Great Reception, Security Cam, Digital Signage, Floor, I'll Be Back, TV Bad, TV Really Bad, TV Snow and Unstable. Even though the plug-in is based on scripts, you can still modify and save presets.
    • With control of over 80 properties, you have a very flexible tool pallete to create your effect.
    • You can set the likelihood that each effect is going to happen. This effects how often that effect occurs. This provides for a random application of the effect, with the higher setting, the more often the effect will be applied. You can set the likelihood to 100% and the effect will always be applied. Then you can keyframe the effect to be on or off for precise control.
    • You can scale the Holomatrix presets based on the frame size. This scales the effect to the output resolution, taking into account number of scan lines in the output resolution. It features pre-set settings of SD, 720, and 1080, however you can manually scale the effect within that range.
    • Host Application Support
      • Holomatrix works as a plug-in for select versions of Adobe After Effects only.
Image Lounge
Image Lounge contains After Effects filters that allow you to tweak your footage for more impact. Use the filters in Image Lounge to create realistic effects such as fire, smoke, and water. The filters allow you to add natural looking touches to your footage, such as shadows and distortions caused by steam or hot air. You can make areas of your frame out of focus, simulating a shallow depth of field, and even pull focus using the plug-in's True Camera Rack Focus and a depth map.
    • Distortion Effects
      • The Real Shadows filter adds realistic 3D shadows to your elements or text.
      • The Ultra Displacer filter is a powerful tool that simulates the characteristic distortions of water, hot air, steam, or interference.
    • Fractals
      • Use fractal effects to create photorealistic fire effects without using a particle generator.
      • Generate solar flares, napalm explosions, or smoky flames with Fractal Fire.
      • Brimstone creates ultra-photorealistic walls of fire.
      • Image Lounge's fractal generators let you create clouds of all kinds with the Fractal Clouds filter.
      • Fractal Tunnel wraps the fractal effect creating a tunnel.
    • Camera Focus Tools
      • TruCamera Blur allows you to create an out of focus look in part of an image, replication the shallow depth of field and bokeh of images shot with a large format camera.
      • TruCamera Rack Focus allows you to create focus pulls in images, allowing you to direct the viewer's attention.
    • Place your images into a corridor of mirrors. Twist the successive reflections to animate an image trailing off into the distance.
    • Create outlines, edges and inline shapes on the border of static images.
    • Create rectangles, complete with border and color controls quickly and easily.
    • Animate tracking, leading, size, and width with multiple lines of text, or create the classic "type-on" effect.
    • Apply noise patterns to the edges of your image or text.
    • Keyframeable
      • Settings are customizable and keyframeable, you can quickly create simple animations or build complex animations around even the simplest shapes.

Composite Wizard
Composite Wizard features tools for footage that is difficult to key because of issues such as film grain, video noise, wire rigs, and uneven screen illumination. It provides you with edge control of your layers to create an organic looking composite, and advanced tools for color blending the foreground and background layers of your composite together.
    • Denoiser
      • This tool applies an averaging function across pixels from a sequence of frames, this effectively reduces or eliminating film and video noise. This works well for cleaning up dark areas of images that become noisy.
    • Wire/Rig Zapper
      • Eliminate wires and unwanted objects from a shot by either cloning or stitching pixels together from the surrounding areas. With this tool you can eliminate stage rigging from a blue or green screen shot or fill in film scratches or video dropouts before you bring the footage into the keyer.
    • Miracle Alpha Cleaner
      • Miracle Alpha applies a cleanup pass to your alpha channel, identifying dirt and other artifacts based on a combination of their size, alpha level, and proximity to the principal element. Use this to minimize the amount of manual repair you need to do to the alpha channel.
    • Smooth Screen
      • This tool helps reduce lighting and surface variances on your blue or green screen. Smooth Screen compares pixels to the target keying color, and corrects them to smooth out the blue or green screen before keying, giving you a more consistent screen and a better key.
    • Spill Killer
      • When you have light spill from your screen contaminating your foreground, this tool helps to neutralize the blue or green contaminated pixels restoring the underlying color of your foreground subject.
    • Edge Blur
      • Composite Wizard's Super Blur algorithm allows you to correct footage that has tattered edges and easily blend and integrate multiple images into your composite.
    • Deluxe Edge Finder
      • Create a precise border along a layer's alpha channel. You can use this border as a control layer to control the exposure, color balance, sharpness, and transparency of the composite's edge.
    • Matte Feather & Matte Feather Sharp
      • Control the feathering of your matte's edge. Correct dirty or tattered layer edge or soften a hard edge from a CG object, making it a more organic composite.
    • Re-Matter
      • The various tools you use to create a clean Alpha Channel may end up degrading the look of your original footage. Composite Wizard allows you to take an alpha channel and composite it to the original footage.
    • Composite Color Matcher
      • Create a more organic looking and believable composite by using this tool to automatically adjust a clip's colors to match the composite environment by blending its tonal and exposure ranges.
    • Super Compound Blur
      • Extends the power of Super Blur to allow the blur intensity to be set by a control layer, such as a layer's luminance or individual R, G, B, A channel. When used with a control layer created with Deluxe Edge Finder, realistic composites with subtle edge integration can be synthesized
    • Super Rack Focus
      • This tool brings Z-buffer control to the Super Blur algorithm, allowing the creation of realistic depth-of-field simulation when a Z- buffer or "depth map" is available. Super Rack Focus can reference depth maps created in 3D applications to progressively blur an image as it recedes in space away from the viewer creating a realistic rack focus effect.

Warp
Warp provides advanced image manipulation tools centered around warped visual effects. The Shadow tool adds depth to text, and allows you to control perspective and fall off, while the reflection tool allows you to add reflections of text or video to your footage. The included glow tools provide you with unique glow effects. The included Corner Pin toolset allows you precise control when working with perspective warped video, and when working with the plug-in in After Effects you can also import motion-tracking data from Mocha. Motion blur can be applied to distortions and shadows and works in every host application.
    • Corner Pin controls:
      • The Multi-Mode Corner Pin plug-in can handle any kind of 2D distortion you can imagine. It handles both standard corner pinning and corner pinning from a distorted source or source in perspective, such as defining a billboard on the highway.
      • Secondary Corner Pin Output provides control of offset, scale and rotation. This lets you animate and adjust the position of the corner pin output.
    • Warp can upscale sources to larger dimensions and uses adjustable super sampling controls to downscale large sources to small destinations.
    • Glimmer & Glow:
      • Use the glow tools within Warp to create, tweak and animate glows and glimmers with tools specifically designed for Warp.
      • Built-in over bright protection prevents overly bright glows from clipping and instead creates natural looking results.
    • Shadows & Reflections:
      • Multiple fade modes allow you to control your shadow to create realistic diffuse shadows and increase the shadow blur as it extends.
      • The Reflection tool provides an easy-to-use setup control for defining a mirror reflection for any source video or image. Extensive controls let you add fade-out or blur to make your reflection look diffuse.
      • With the included tools, you can add a secondary distortion to the shadow or reflection to give the illusion that the shadow or reflection is bent or appears on a second surface, providing you more creative options than simple drop shadow effects.
    • Control the Motion Blur for a realistic effect on moving footage and shadows.
    • Warp's code is optimized to take advantage of multiple CPU cores to accelerate rendering.
    • Controls are keyframeable, allowing you to animate your settings over the duration of the clip.

ToonIt
ToonIt allows you to easily give the cartoon look to your video footage, giving your finished images the smoothness and natural looking motion of live action, without having to rotoscope and hand paint the frames. The reorganized user interface makes working with ToonIt easier than before, and rendering is now three to four times faster than with the previous version. With 14 styles of cartoon to choose from and over 40 built-in presets, ToonIt provides you a wide palate from which to start your work. Blur adjustment is built into each tool, simplifying your workflow, and the settings are keyframeable so they can be animated over the duration of your clip.
    • ToonIt is now optimized for faster output, especially when working with HD source material. You can see speed improvements across the board of 3-4x over the previous version. Render options allow you to options to choose between quality and render time.
    • The revamped interface provides better organization with controls grouped by style for a more efficient workflow.
    • ToonIt features tools to create many cartoon styles, including Flat Cartoon, Graphic Novel, Comic Noir (B&W), Half-Tone (dots), Stipple, High Contrast, Poster Paint, Marker, and Gouache.

Text Anarchy allows you to add text as visual background noise, a texture, or flashing words to reinforce a theme. Animate between different fonts, or scroll type across a screen with pinpoint control over font size, kerning, tracking, leading, hinting and baseline shift. The included Geomancy Shapes plug-ins allow you to animate lines, squares, circles and other shapes in 3D space.
