Overview
  • 1Description

The 2TB PortaGig 62 Hard Drive from Glyph Technologies is perfect for media professionals. With dual FireWire-800 ports, a USB 2.0 hi-speed port, and an eSATA port, the portable hard drive can connect to a wide variety of devices. The drive supports a bus-powered option or can be powered using the provided AC adapter. Boasting 2TB of space and running at 7200rpm, the PortaGig 62 is a high-quality hard drive for all your media needs.

Triple Interface
This Glyph hard drive provides you with all the ports you need. With FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and eSATA ports, you can connect this Glyph PortaGig 62 hard drive to your computer with ease
RAID & Spanning
The PortaGig 62 supports RAID 0, RAID 1 and Spanning modes. RAID 0 is known as block-level striping without mirroring. RAID 0 has no redundancy, but instead provides improved performance and additional storage. RAID 1 is mirroring without parity or striping. In RAID 1, data is written identically to two drives. At least two drives are required, which the PortaGig 62 has for a total of 2TB. Spanning is when multiple drives are combined into a single virtual drive. It provides no data redundancy. The drives are merely virtually connected together so they appear as a single large disk
Bus Powered
The PortaGig 62 can be bus powered through a FireWire 800 port so you'll only need one cable for both power and data. However, Glyph included an external power supply if bus power is not available or is insufficient so you'll always be able to power the PortaGig 62
Effective Cooling
The PortaGig 62 uses a quiet internal fan for maximum airflow and proper cooling. The case is designed with front-panel ventilation holes to draw cool air in, while exhausting warm air out the back - critical to the performance and reliability of the components
Glyph Manager
If your PortaGig 62 experiences an issue, Glyph Manager software will warn you before it becomes a real problem. Along with setting the RAID mode, Glyph Manager constantly monitors Glyph drives using S.M.A.R.T. (industry-standard drive diagnostics) and reports the health to you. If a problem is detected, the front LED will blink red and Glyph Manager software will alert you. This warning allows you to backup your data before any is lost

Older versions of Windows, such as 2000 and XP 32-bit, use Master Boot Record which doesn't support volumes larger than 2TB. When the total capacity of the RAID is 2TB or higher, you must format the array using GPT in Windows. GPT format is only supported by Windows XP 64-bit Edition, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X. GPT format will not work with XP 32-bit or older Windows operating systems. If you want to use Windows 2000 and/or XP 32-bit, you'll need to run the PortaGig 62 in RAID 1 mode because RAID 1 creates a usable volume that is half the total capacity (1.5TB for the 3TB).
