The B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer MRC Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Super fun filter, I got mine just in time for spring. Makes blue skies really blue which makes spring flowers really pop! Also fun around water to increase or decrease relfection.

B+W MAKES THE BEST FILTERS FOR THE MONEY, SOLID BRASS RING, HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION AND FANTASTIC OPTICALS. BUY ONE, YOU'LL NEVER GO BACK TO THE OTHER COMPANIES. I THREW 2 OTHER CHEAPER FILTERS IN THE RECYCLE GLASS BAG, AS SOON AS I TRIED THIS ONE. BUY ONE,WELL WORTH THE MONEY

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
I've only tested it out during one session of hiking. Used it on my Nikon D7000 w/35mm DX 1.8 lens. The shots I got had great contrast, sky was bluer, plants greener w/less or no glare. This is a heavy duty quality filter. I've used cheap ones before and this one really lets you know you're putting quality on your lens. It rotates smoothly but because of the rotating ring, it's hard to unscrew the filter. The stationary ring fixed to the lens is much thinner than the part that rotates so you have to squeeze pretty hard to get a decent grip to turn it. It came packaged in a typical plastic filter case with soft stryofoam. B&H shipped it very quickly and it even made it to California the day before scheduled (UPS didn't actually deliver until the due date). I would order this product and similar again and from B&H.

This thing works great! Colours look fantastic. Construction is durable. I found it difficult to clean. That may be inherent with all polarizers, so I did not take a star off.

I am not an expert in polarizers, so other filters may be as good, however, this does a great job of removing reflections. It is nicely built, easy to handle and rotate.
the optics are excellent, but again I am not an expert.
I am a sailor, and like to take photographs from the boat, so a polarizer is great for these shots.
Think of how much a good pair of polarizing sunglasses helps on the water or in the snoq.

I used this polarizer on my Nikon and loved the results! Photography is only a hobby for me, but knowing what this filter can do and it's limitations(ie. the angle of light), I have gotten some really terrific pictures of waterfalls and Fall scenery in the Blue Ridge Mts.

Comments about B+W 52mm Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
I've been using this with my 35mm lens for a few weeks now. It turns the skies a beautiful deep blue without having to underexpose the highlights or trying to get the colors to pop later. It's nice to get it right in camera. At the time of this review the leaves are starting to turn bright yellows, reds, and oranges, polarizers do a great job of making those fall colors pop, absolutely gorgeous.
Also what you can't do in photoshop is get rid of reflections. This helps for anything from seeing through glass, to water reflecting a ton of light off of landscapes(sometimes you want a slower shutter speed, to capture movement).
This polarizer is of a very high quality, which explains the fairly high price for a filter. I don't notice a decrease in sharpness with this on at all. I love the quality of all of my b+w filters, especially when comparing to cheaper tiffens. There really is no point in buying expensive lenses then putting cheap filters on them.

B&W makes the best filters in the business bar none. That being said they use extreme high quality glass and this particular one is multi coated to improve the image. The workmanship on this is excellent. B&W is a little bit more money than other brands but its 100% worth it.
