The Audio-Technica AT8015 (AT815B) is a wide-range condenser microphone with a line + gradient polar pattern specifically designed to provide the narrow acceptance angle desirable for long distance sound pickup. It was created for use in professional recording, broadcasting, film/ TV/video production, high-quality sound reinforcement and other demanding applications requiring excellent sound rejection from the sides and rear.
Audio Technica engineers have utilized the newest low-mass condenser technology in the quest for superior performance. The permanent charge is now on the fixed back plate, rather than on the moving element. With the fixed-charge "back plate" construction, a gold-vaporized diaphragm just 4 microns thick (about 0.00016") can be used. This reduces moving mass, improving frequency response and transient response while reducing distortion.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT8015 - Shotgun Microphone:
Best Shotgun I've used for the money, especially in a high noise area. I used it on a Motorcycle Doc and we interviewed riders sitting on their bike with the motor running and still got clear dialog. The level could be a little hotter, but not much of a concern. The over caveat is when booming great care must be made to keep the mike pointing toward the mouths of the speakers/subjects.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT8015 - Shotgun Microphone:
I've used this on a variety of films and commercial shoots. Its ok. Very low output level. I thought it sounded good until I put it up next to a Rode NTG-3. When compared the AT8015 sounded thin and weak. Not exactly apple to apples, though. For the price its a good mic, and very good at rejecting off-axis sounds.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT8015 - Shotgun Microphone:
this mic is great for anything you need audio wise. The only problem with it that I have is that it's HUGE! But whatever as long as it gets good audio who really cares? I mean this will get professional audio and you'll be happy with it. Just make sure you hook your actor or actress up with a lav mic as well because those are important to getting good audio!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT8015 - Shotgun Microphone:
This is an awesome shotgun mic and it's a great price. I bought it to use on video shoots that I produce. At the moment we're mostly using it to record dialogue. My director uses a Canon 7D camera and with this mic we are now able to get great audio along with the HD video.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT8015 - Shotgun Microphone:
This microphone is used for audio testing in different venues and has performed admirably. The results have been as expected and better. The balance and overall quality makes this a mic to own. As is usual with most microphones of this size, the case could be a little more substantial, but that is to be expected. The best thing of all is that with one AA battery you can use this mic without phantom power. Great when recording on the fly with simple equipment, or for non-pro purposes.
