The CH-1000 Camcorder Handle is designed for small Hi8, VHS-C and DV camcorders, the CH-1000 provides a solid, comfortable grip while stabilizing the camera for skillful taping and ease of use. The CH-1000 Camcorder Handle attaches in seconds, can be used with either hand and makes taping easier, less fatiguing.

Specially designed handle bracket locks in three positions:
Locks straight down for taping with camcorders having sports viewfinders.
Locks at a 45° angle for videotaping with direct eye-to-viewfinder contact.
Locks flat for easy storage and carrying in a camera bag.
- Molded foam rubber handle provides all-day comfort.
- Small and lightweight, it can be left on the camcorder at all times. Measures 5" long by 1 1/2" in diameter.

I was looking for a small, padded grip to assist in holding my new camcorder. This is just the ticket! The foam handle is very comfortable, easy to grip and offers just the right amount of extra handle. The camcorder screws on easily and is secure. The tilting head offers a very ergonomically friendly shooting angle which helps in maintaining a steady shooting angle. I didn't find the spring loaded tilting head to be a problem at all. As light weight as modern camcorders are these days, I doubt that it would slip out of position. The overall small size makes it easy to cary in your equipment bag or even leave it attached.
You can't hardly go wrong for the price!

I have used my CH-1000 with a Sony HVR-A1U and an HV30 w/lens,mic,batt.
Does add be stability when filming without tripod.
One big problem is the 3-positions "feature" There is no way to lock the handle in 1 or the 3 positions. If you have a medium sized rig (eg: HV30 with lens, mic, wireless etc.) the handle can slip into another position (way not cool) putting your gear in jeopardy.

Screws on easily; easy to grip; stable. Would be nice if it wasn't a passive locking system, but is still firm enough that you can be confident it will be stable.

Handle screws into my Canon HV30 quickly and is very comfortable to hold. I no longer have to stress my wrist during those long film sessions.
Fits in a small compartment pocket in my camera bag. I even took it on a plane twice.
