Subj:Stand For Rode IXY Stereo recording microphone for iPhone and iPad

I noticed in your video, that you had a clear stand holding the iPhone. Is that stand available for the iPhone and iPad,and if so where can I buy them at? Thank You for your time.

Hi Craig -

The clear acrylic stand shown in this video is actually not for sale.  It is a commercial fixture that we borrowed from our in-store display. In a Google search I found this clear acrylic stand:  iBERTH™ Clear Acrylic Stand for iPod Touch or iPhone.

Two questions: Why is this product not available with the new iPhone/iPad connector; and though the mics won't be optimally positioned, if a securing clip will be available, why can't the mics be used while recording video with the unit in normal orientation?

Hi Gene -

Unfortunately, manufacturers rarely share their reasoning behind the decisions that go into the design of their products. We will need  to wait and see what kind of clip RODE may offer in the future.  Till then, all I can say is that Rode's intention here was for audio recording and not as an upgrade for the audio while shooting video on the iOS device.
