Earlier this summer, at Moogfest, the legendary synthesizer brand unveiled a special product that is sure to excite the DIY musical hacker community worldwide, with the Werkstatt-Ø1 Moogfest 2014 Analog Synthesizer.
The synthesizer features a single voltage-controlled oscillator with saw and pulse selectable wave shapes. You can adjust the pulse width modulation as well as the oscillator frequency from 8 to 16,000Hz. A voltage-controlled filter section features the classic 4-pole Moog ladder filter with a frequency response of 20 to 20,000Hz and variable resonance control that you can use to push the filter into self-oscillation.
For variable modulation, the synth includes a dual wave shape LFO with a sweepable range from 0.2 to 600Hz, as well as a variable attack/decay envelope with an On/Off sustain switch. What really makes the synth exciting is the inclusion of a breadboard-style patchable header with dedicated external audio input and CV inputs for VCO linear FM, VCO exponential FM, VCF, VCA, and LFO patching. The CV outputs come in pairs for Keyboard Cv, EG, LFO, VCF, VCO, Gate, and Trigger.
The flexibility of the circuit path in theWerkstatt-Ø1 empowers you to explore new sounds to your heart’s content.
