NAMM 2015: Introducing the VHD Preamp from Solid State Logic

Share

Solid State Logic, a world leader in tools for creative audio professionals, has the announced the release of the Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) Preamp for 500-series-format racks. The VHD-Pre is based on technology from SSL’s Duality, which offers a broad range of tone, from the ultra-clean “SuperAnalogue” to fierce transistor distortion. The switchable VHD circuit introduces either a 2nd- or 3rd-harmonic distortion, or a blend of the two to your source material. At lower settings, it offers gentle valve-style warmth with a touch of transistor edge, but as the drive is increased, the more extreme the transistor distortion becomes. Other features include +20 to +75 variable gain control , a -20 to +20 trim control for level matching to other devices, a switchable 15 to 500 Hz low-frequency filter, a Hi-Z impedance switch for mic impedance matching, +48V phantom power, a PAD for utilizing the VHD at line level, and a phase invert switch.
