There are good lenses, there are great lenses, and then there are the lenses that dreams are made of. The Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/0.7 is one of this latter group. Originally designed for the NASA Apollo lunar program in 1966, Carl Zeiss manufactured only 10 of them. One was kept by Zeiss, six were sold to NASA, and three were sold to director Stanley Kubrick.
