Leica V-Lux 20: Super Zoom, Compact Body

Hello, B&H Insights readers! I am back again today to talk about a new Leica compact camera that has been garnering a great deal of attention across the Internet for the past few weeks. The new Leica V-Lux 20 is a compact camera with some new and convenient features, and I have had the pleasure of testing it out for the past couple of days.

When Steve Jobs introduced the new iPhone 4 at the recent WWDC10 Conference, he described the latest iPhone incarnation as being "… the most precise thing we've ever made. There is glass on front and the backside and it has stainless steel around it. Its closest kin is a beautiful old Leica camera." That’s a pretty heady statement from an equally heady mover and shaker. But iconic referencing aside, how true is this statement?

The Leica D-Lux 4. Is it still a good option for a compact camera?

Hi there! My name is Steve Huff and this is my very first post to the B&H Insights blog. While usually busy running my own photo site at stevehuffphoto.com, I am happy to announce that I will also be writing articles right here for B&H Photo.

I have been a passionate photographer for 15 years and in that time I have shot with, owned, or tested almost every digital camera ever made. Today I shoot with Leica and in future posts I will explain why I do, and also try to share my thoughts on Leica cameras in general like what makes them so unique and why they are so crazy expensive!

'New' From Leica (No Joking!)

For the longest time, the words 'new from Leica' sounded like an oxymoron, but on 9/9/09, Leica's Chief Executive Officer Rudi Spiller, along with Director of Product Management Stefan Daniel and the musician/photographer Seal, announced the introduction of 2 new Leica rangefinder cameras – the Leica M9 and Leica X1 - along with the official debut of the medium-format Leica S2. And they were able to make these announcements with straight faces and without chuckles from the audience. Sarcasm aside, these are truly heady days for Leica and long-time Leica aficionados around the world.
