Bringing the Sound of the Studio to Your Living Room: Introducing PreSonus Ceres Loudspeakers

Share

The new products just keep on coming from PreSonus. In addition to yesterday’s announcement of the company’s growing live-mixer line, PreSonus has just given a sneak peak at two new additions to its monitor lineup, the Ceres 3.5BT and 4.5BT compact loudspeakers. It seems the new speakers mark PreSonus’s intention to bring the acclaimed sound of its studio monitors to the home or office.

Based closely on its Eris line of studio monitors, the Ceres provides you with the inputs you’d expect to see on a studio monitor (1/4" TRS and RCA) alongside Bluetooth streaming functionality (for wireless smart device integration) and a 1/8" stereo input on the front panel for connecting an MP3 player or other device. Both models feature a 25-watt (per side) Class A/B amplifier, and a 1", ultra-low mass silk dome tweeter, with the 3.5BT pumping the low frequencies through a 3.5” Kevlar woofer while the 4.5BT sports a 4.5” Kevlar woofer, providing a slightly higher dB output and a touch more bass response, though both models have a rear-firing bass reflex port. You also get a 1/4" subwoofer output for easy integration into a home theater system, and the kind of speaker-protection features you'd find in professional models.

Both models give you a front-panel volume control, as well bass and treble controls, to help tune them to your room. If you want to use your monitors as a throughput for quiet listening, they also give you a 1/8" stereo headphone jack right on the front panel. The Ceres’s energy conservation mode meets the European ErP directive.
