The New Lumix DMC-GX7 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera

This week, Panasonic announced the new Lumix DMC-GX7 digital camera. It features a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor and a Venus Engine, which makes it possible to achieve a maximum ISO of 25600. In addition to its 3.0" 1040k-dot touch monitor, the GX7 also features a 2764-dot tilting live viewfinder. Another big plus is that an optical image stabilizer is built into the body. The New Canon Vixia mini

Canon announced the Vixia mini compact personal camcorder this week, which will be available in black or white. It was designed to enable people to easily shoot and share photos and videos on the Internet, thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi capability. It features an ultra-wide-angle Canon f/2.8 fisheye lens, which can capture 160° movies and 170° stills. It also has a 2.7" LCD touch display, which tilts and swings around for self-portraits. New Mount-Conversion and Extended Warranties from Sigma

Sigma announced an interesting new service this week: Starting in September, qualifying Sigma lenses can be converted to your mount of choice (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Micro Four Thirds, etc.). Sigma also announced that all products purchased through Authorized Sigma USA Dealers (such as B&H), will be covered by a full 4-year warranty. Get the full details in this B&H InDepth article.

Panasonic Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 Lens Announced

On Thursday August 1st, Panasonic announced the Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 lens. When released, it will be the fastest auto-focus lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. The price, release date and pre-order information were not announced.

The New Radiopopper Nano

Radiopopper came out with a new flash trigger system this week called Nano. The idea is to offer a system that's smaller, easier-to-use, and more competitive on price. The Nano system offers an impressive range of up to 1,750' in optimal conditions. More information is available at PopPhoto.

Software Updates

Canon released firmware updates for the 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, and 1D Mark IV, which fix a power consumption issue and a display issue when a lens is not attached.

Samsung released new firmware for the WB250 point-and-shoot digital camera that makes it possible to post images directly to Evernote via Wi-Fi.

Adobe announced "release candidates" for Lightroom 5.2 and Camera Raw 8.2, with support for the Canon 70D, the Sony RX1R and RX100 II, as well as several Fujifilm, Casio and Phase One cameras.

GoPro released version 2.0 of their smartphone app for iOS and Android, which makes it possible to view and share photos and videos from the camera. The app is available in the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store.
