Bigblue LED Dive Lighting Systems

Recent advances in LED technologies have resulted in new applications of this alternative light source for use above as well as below sea level. Power-sipping and cool to the touch compared to tungsten lighting, the advantages of LED technology can be found in a number of new stand-alone and complete underwater lighting systems now available from Bigblue.

 For shooting stills and video underwater, divers can avail themselves of any of three new Bigblue TL-series Technical Lighting Systems. The Bigblue TL-3 Technical Canister Dive Light System, available with or without a Ni-MH rechargeable battery canister, is designed around three XR-E LEDs that output 750 lumens. Cast from anodized aluminum alloy with anti-corrosive coatings, the TL-3 dive lamp projects a 9-degree light beam (with a 44-degree periphery spread), and features a constant color temperture of 6500°, tempered optical glass and is rated down to 100m (328').

Burn time is estimated at approximately 2.8 hours at high output or 4.4 hours at low output when using a BAT13.2-22 Ni-MH rechargeable battery canister, and up to 5.6 hours at high output or nine hours at low output when using a BAT13.2-45 Ni-MH rechargeable battery canister. Both canisters feature magnetic slider Hi/Low output switches and a Goodman glove. The weight of the light head, glove and BAT13.2-22 battery canister is 1366g (3 lb) and it has a seawater bouyancy weight of -546g (-1.2 lb).

For higher light-output needs, Bigblue also offers the TL-6 and TL-9 LED Technical Dive Lights Systems, which feature six XR-E LED lamps (1300 lumens) and nine XR-E LED lamps (1800 lumens) respectively, and like the TL-3, are available with or without battery canisters.

A step up in light output is the Bigblue TL-6 LED Technical Dive Light System , which features six XR-E LED lamps (1300 lumens), an 8-degree hot spot (and a 70-degree periphery spread). Burn time for the TL-6 is estimated at approximately 1.7 hours at high output or 2.8 hours at low output when using a BAT13.2-22 Ni-MH rechargeable battery canister and up to 3.4 hours at high output or 5.6 hours at low output when using the higher capacity  BAT13.2-45 battery canister. The weight of the TL-6 lamp, GM handle and battery canister is 1736g (3.83 lb) and has a seawater bouyancy of -660g (-1.46 lb). The TL-6 Technical Dive Light System is available with or without a battery canister.

For maximum output needs there's the Bigblue TL-9 LED Technical Dive Light System, which features nine XR-E LED lamps (1800 lumens), a 10-degree hot spot (and a 70° periphery spread). Burn time for the TL-9 is estimated at approximately one hour at high output or 1.7 hours at low output when using a BAT13.2-22 Ni-MH rechargeable battery canister and up to two hours at high output or 3.4 hours at low output when using a BAT13.2-45 battery canister. The weight of the TL-9 lamp, GM handle and battery canister is 2101g (4.3 lb) and has a seawater bouyancy of -660g (-1.81 lb). And like the TL-3 and TL-6, the TL-9 Technical Dive Light System is available with or without a battery canister.

Bigblue FF-1x5W AFO LED  and  FF-3x5W AFO LED Focus Dive Lights

Bigblue's FF-1x5W AFO LED Focus Light delivers 200 lumens of 6500-degree light with a beam angle of 60° from a single, high-output 5W LED (equivalent to an 8W halogen with a 50,000-hour lifespan). To prevent stray light from ruining photos photos taken with flash, an auto-off switch cuts off the light for three seconds when the flash is triggered. Good down to 100m (328'), the FF-1x5W delivers up to eight hours of burn time (first three hours at 100%, second three hours at 50%, with gradual reduction of strength until switched off) from a set of 4 1.5V AA alkaline batteries or NiMH 1.2V rechrgeables. Available in a choice of colors (Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Amber and Black), the BigblueFF-1x5W AFO is constructed of anodized aluminum alloy with anti-corrosive coatings.

More powerful is the Bigblue FF-3x5W AFO LED Focus Light, which delivers 500 lumens of 6500-degree light with a burn time of up to 12 hours on a set of eight AA 1.5V alkaline batteries or NiMH 1.2V rechargeable batteries (High power - first hour at 100%, second hour at 50% and fifth hour at 25%; or Low power: first hour at 100%, second hour at 60%, fifth hour at 40%, both with gradual reduction of strength until switched off). Three 5W, 3.7V LED lamps deliver a 60-degree beam of cool-burning light that lasts about four times longer (50,000 hours) than hotter-burning halogen lamps.

Like the single-lamp Bigblue FF-1x5W AFO, the triple-lamp Bigblue FF-3x5W AFO LED Focus Light is available in a choice of colors (Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Amber and Black), is good down to 100m (328'), and is constructed of anodized aluminum alloy with anti-corrosive coatings.

For divers seeking a dive light with a focusable beam angle, Bigblue offers the CF-250 Focusable LED Dive Light, which features a single 250 lumen XR-E LED lamp with a light beam that can be adjusted easily from 8° to 31°. Powered by four 1.5V AA alkalines or 1.2V NiMH rechargeable batteries, the CF-250 delivers up to 2.5 hours of 6500-degree light at depths down to 100m (328'). The Bigblue CF-250 is available in Blue or Silver, and can be ordered with or without a Goodman glove and/or a pouch.
