A Fisheye for the Frugal

Recently, we posted the Rokinon 8mm F/3.5 on our Facebook page and you excitedly demanded samples. You asked for it, and you've got it! These images were shot on the Canon 40D while having some quick hands on time with the lens.

We're curious to know your thoughts on the samples, so feel free to let us know in the comments below.

Cool stuff, send me one for free? ;P

Does it work on a full-frame or designed for crop sensor only?

Hey there,

The lens is designed for APS-C sensors and there is cropping on a full frame sensor (like the Canon 5D Mk II)

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the samples :)

Great captures! Awesome lens. I especially like the last one. Were you laying on the floor (which would explain the curious individual taking YOUR picture over you...)?

Sweet pictures.

A couple questions - is the aperture electrically controlled on the Canon version, or is it controlled with an aperture ring on the lens? And, is there a way to remove the lens hood? It looks like the hood would vignette severely if the lens was used on a full frame camera.

Thanks!

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the comment. The aperture is controlled via the aperture ring around the lens. There is no way to remove the hood and it does indeed vignetting severely on a full frame camera.

I have an 11mm now, I'm REALLY trying to justify 3mm.  :)
