Did you get an iPad for the holidays this year? This is being put to paper in advance of the actual festivities, so I’m hoping for one too, although there’s always the chance that I’ll only walk away with a few lumps of Pennsylvania anthracite. Here are a few products that will help you to get more out of your iPad.
The iPad features built-in Bluetooth, which allows you to use it with wireless keyboards and other Bluetooth-enabled accessories. If you don’t find its on-screen keyboard to your liking, consider this Bluetooth keyboard option.
The Keyfolio from Kensington is both a protective case for the iPad and a keyboard. The case is made from synthetic leather with a padded interior to provide protection for your iPad. Its keyboard features special keys for the iPad and a rechargeable Li-Ion battery. It provides up to 90 hours of use between charges. Standby time is about 100 days, and it takes four and a half hours to fully recharge.
Chargers for the Home and Car
The iPad ships with an AC power adapter — but it can only charge one device at a time. If you’ve also got an iPhone, iPod, or other portable device that can be recharged via USB, consider Macally’s DUALUSB10 charger. It features two USB ports, making it possible to recharge two devices, while only taking up one AC power outlet. When not in use, its plug swivels into the body for easy transport.
If you’re often in your car, you should consider Kensington’s PowerBolt Duo car charger (see top of page). It plugs into your car’s 12V power outlet—older folks might remember when we used to call that the cigarette lighter—and features two USB ports for device charging. An iPod dock cable is included, which you can use to charge your iPad, iPhone or iPod.
If you’re looking to protect the iPad’s large screen from scratches and smudges, look no further than this three-pack of screen protectors from M-Edge. Apply one and rest assured that your iPad will be protected from damage. The protectors feature an anti-glare coating, which make it easier to use your iPad in a variety of lighting conditions. A cleaning cloth is included, as well as three protectors, so that you can change the protector out for a fresh one if it starts to get ragged around the edges.
