CES 2014: The Mophie Space Pack Adds Battery Life and Storage to iPhone 5/5s

While the iPhone has always been limited by its inability to accept additional storage after being purchased, Mophie has released a battery pack case that aims to change that. Adding to their popular line of Juice Packs and Power Stations is the new Space Pack, which in addition to doubling the phone’s battery life, adds either 16GB or 32GB of storage capacity.

This is welcome news for iPhone 5/5s users who want to keep more documents, videos, music, and photos, but don’t want to rely just on cloud-based storage or access to a computer. The files can be accessed at any time without the need for a data network or using storage space on the phone.

Content can be accessed using a free downloadable iOS app called Space, which lets you manage all files using a local file management system, without depending on a network or Wi-Fi access. It automatically organizes files into Collections, so you can easily see what you’ve got stored.

The app also supports AirPlay, enabling you to send stored media to a TV, monitor, or speaker with a compatible AirPlay device. It also has AirDrop integration for sharing files with other devices that support AirDrop. Any file type can be stored and managed on the Space Pack. It’s due to ship on March 14, 2014.
