ASUS has just announced the new Google Nexus 7 FHD Tablet, which is available with either 16GB or 32GB of flash-storage capacity. The new Google Nexus 7 FHD features a handful of upgrades over the last Nexus 7 tablet. Most notably, the new Nexus 7 FHD is outfitted with a 7-inch Full HD multi-touch display that features 1920 x 1200 resolution and an impressive 323 pixels per inch (ppi). Like the last Nexus 7 model, this new display uses In-Plane Switching (IPS), which enables wide viewing angles, fast response times, and more accurate color reproduction from all angles. ASUS has also doubled the internal memory on this model, providing 2GB of DDR3 memory as opposed to the 1GB offered on the last Nexus 7. This will improve your ability to multitask, as well as the transition time when moving from app to app.
This new model uses the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. Some of the Android 4.3 upgrades include support for restricted profiles and Bluetooth Smart Ready, OpenGL ES 3.0 for high-speed graphics in games and videos, improvements with notification access and support for Full HD 1080p mobile video streaming thanks to better Digital Rights Management (DRM). Of course, Android also uses Google Play, which means access to over 975,000 apps and games, as well as thousands of eBooks, movies, TV shows, magazines, newspapers, and more. Some of the tablet’s preloaded Google apps include Google Chrome, Google Now, Gmail, and more.
In hopes of increasing processing speed over the last Nexus 7 model, ASUS has dropped a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor into the new Google Nexus 7 FHD. The S4 Pro provides processing speeds up to 1.5GHz. Plus, the chipset features 400MHz Adreno 320 graphics and support for Full HD 1080p video streaming as well. This chipset works with the improvements to the Android 4.3 operating system and DRM to bring you the highest-quality mobile video streaming available.
When it comes to Wi-Fi, the new Nexus 7 FHD provides improved 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless Internet connectivity. The previous models only supported 802.11 b/g/n. The Nexus 7 FHD also supports Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, which allows you to stream music to Bluetooth-capable speakers and you can connect peripheral accessories like wireless keyboard docks. For data transfers and charging, the tablet has a micro-USB port. However, the micro-USB port also supports HDMI output when connected to an optional Slimport adapter. The Slimport adapter will allow you to view your tablet’s videos on a large HDTV screen via HDMI.
The Nexus 7 FHD is equipped with dual cameras and high-quality stereo speakers. It features a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera for video-chatting and rear-facing 5-megapixel camera for capturing photos and video. The tablet features a 3.5mm combo audio mini-jack as well, so you can connect headphones and/or an external microphone. The Nexus 7 FHD is powered by a 15Wh, 3950mAh lithium-polymer battery and it also features an ambient light sensor, a G-sensor, a gyroscope, and an E-compass.
The Google Nexus 7 FHD is both compact and lightweight, which makes it an ideal choice for a variety of users. Students can carry it from class to class, while business and creative professionals can easily slip it into their briefcase or purse. It’s also a versatile tablet with enough storage capacity to store a large number of multimedia files. Plus, it has the processing power and internal memory to be an efficient multitasking machine for work or play. ASUS even offers travel covers in a variety of colors so every user can customize the tablet with their favorite color.
