Bose® Announces New SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth Speaker

Share

Bose® has just announced their new SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth Speaker. As the name suggests, this is basically a miniature version of the SoundLink Mobile Speaker and SoundLink Mobile Speaker II. In fact, it’s 30% smaller than the original (2.0 x 7.1 x 2.3 inches) and weighs just half as much (1.5 pounds). This trimming down of its form factor translates to enhanced portability.

Bose is synonymous with innovative audio products, so it's no surprise that the sound quality of the new speaker rivals that of the larger SoundLink speakers. The palm-sized SoundLink Mini features proprietary speaker technologies and a high-efficiency neodymium driver configuration that produces full and lifelike sound. Patented passive radiators move in conjunction with the transducers to enrich low frequencies. By facing opposite sides, these radiators minimize vibration and keep the speaker in place even when it’s playing at high volumes. Encasing all of this is a single piece of anodized aluminum, which is durable and modern looking.

Housed within the SoundLink Mini is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to seven hours of listening time, taking 1-3 hours to fully recharge. The included charging cradle charges the battery and provides a convenient base for the speaker. Using the cradle, you can charge as you listen. Also included is a low-profile AC wall charger (100-240VAC) that plugs into charging cradle or the speaker. So you can keep the cradle at home and have the AC charger for on-the-go use.

The speaker supports wireless streaming from Bluetooth-enabled devices like a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or an audio device such as an iPod touch. It supports a wireless range of approximately 30 feet, although walls and construction can affect reception. The speaker is able to remember the last six paired devices as well, making it easier to reconnect after switching between source devices. For non-Bluetooth devices, the speaker has a standard 1/8-inch analog input on its side. Along the top of the speaker are six buttons: power on/off, mute, volume up/down, one for pairing with your Bluetooth device and one that selects the analog input as the source. Additionally, holding down the power button enables the battery indicator light, so you can check the charge.

Another notable feature of the SoundLink Mini is its micro USB port, which allows you to connect it to a computer to update its software. This ensures ongoing compatibility with Bluetooth devices.

Several accessories for the speaker have also been announced. These include three soft, rubberized covers in orange, clear with blue accents, or clear with green accents. The covers fit over the aluminum casing and protect against scratches and impacts. Precise cutouts allow access to the buttons and ports of the speaker. There’s also a travel bag, sold separately, which features a main compartment for the speaker and outer pocket for the AC charger. A replacement AC charger and car charger are available as well.

I don't know how to get sound to play from my tablet thru Bluetooth to Bose wireless mini speaker. Does this make sense and can someone please help ?!

Hi Fibi -

First make sure Bluetooth is activated and operating on your tablet.

Before using your Bose® SoundLink® Mini speaker the first time, connect it to AC (mains) power and charge the battery. You can connect the power supply cord into the charging cradle, or directly into the speaker. While the battery is charging, you can begin using the speaker.  Then you are ready to pair the devices.  Please see page 13 and forward of the Owner's Manual for complete instructions.  If this does not work - please contact BOSE Customer Support.
