For users of Finepix X100 digital cameras, Fujifilm has announced a new wide-angle conversion lens designed specifically for the camera, in both black and silver finishes. The lens attaches directly to the camera, thereby increasing the versatility of the Finepix X100 by multiplying the fixed focal length 0.8x. This alteration converts it from a 23mm fixed focal length (35mm in 35mm equivalent) to a 19mm wide angle (28mm in 35mm equivalent)—with no degradation in image quality or sharpness.¹
Engineered to ensure your Finepix X100’s fine optical quality remains intact, this conversion lens was created by the same engineers who designed the X100's original lens. The WCL-X100 conversion lens delivers the same image quality, even at apertures as wide as f/2.0, retaining all the original lens’s optical characteristics—including the always attractive blurred bokeh background effect that sets it apart from consumer point and shoots. To get the most out of this upgrade in versatility for your Finepix X100, the camera’s firmware must be updated to at least version 1.3.0 or later, so make sure to do this to avoid experiencing issues when using the conversion lens.²
As the design of the WCL-X100’s optics have been carefully handled so as to ensure a seamless blend in image quality, so have the WCL-X100’s construction and coloring been matched with that of the Finepix X100 camera. It uses the same materials, textures and colors as the camera body, and in addition the optional LH-X100 lens hood and PRF-49S protective filter can be used on the conversion lens just the same as the original X100 camera’s lens.³ Furthermore, the clip-on lens cap for the WCL-X100 can be attached with both the lens hood and filter in place, allowing for great customization, creativity and protection while utilizing all of these helpful accessories.
Whether you’ve had the Finepix X100 camera and wished it could take photographs at a bit wider angle—or you simply want to experiment with your creativity and photographic style by outfitting your camera with this new attachment—the Fujifilm WCL-X100 wide conversion lens can aid you in either situation.*
