Olympus PEN E-PL2

Olympus has announced a fourth-generation update of its FourThirds-format Digital PEN lineup, the Olympus PEN E-PL2. Among the improvements incorporated into the latest PEN is a quicker, more responsive AF system, a higher resolution (460,000-dot) 3” LCD, higher ISO sensitivity (ISO 6400), Face Detection with Eye Detect AF for improved sharpness when shooting portraits, and an updated version of Live Guide for stills and video capture. The E-PL2 also features a smaller, redesigned kit lens–the Movie and Still Compatible (MSC) ED m14-42mm/3.5-5.6 zoom, which along with a more compact profile, is designed to focus more quickly and quietly to facilitate improved 720p video and sound capture.

The new camera will be available in Black, Red, Silver and White.

Olympus also announced a few new accessories to go along with the camera, including a fish-eye converter, macro-converter and a nifty Macro Arm Light that features twin LEDs mounted on flexible arms for controllable detailed lighting of small objects photographed up close. Olympus also introduced the PENPal, a small Bluetooth device that can store up to 2,600 images and send them wirelessly to remote Bluetooth-enabled devices.
