Pocket-size camcorders are still quite popular, and Toshiba recently announced two new models, the Camileo B10 and the Camileo P100. They’re both quite small, but with different styles to meet personal preferences. Both camcorders allow the viewing of videos and still photos directly on an HDTV and both camcorders feature an Internet Upload button, for Windows-based systems only, which allows the quick sharing of videos and photos on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Picasa.
About the size of a remote control, the Camileo B10 camcorder is highly portable, very affordable and compatible with Windows and Mac computers. The B10 is only 2.2 inches wide by 4.25 inches high by 0.71 of an inch thick. It weighs only 3.8 ounces. As small as it is, though, the tiny camcorder is capable of recording 1080p full HD video and capturing 16-megapixel still images from its 5-megapixel CMOS sensor.
The Camileo B10 camcorder is loaded with many other features, including a two-inch LCD screen, a mini-HDMI port for HDTV connectivity and a mini USB port for computer connectivity. It also features 16x digital zoom, face tracking, motion detection, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card support and a built-in video light. Not only does the B10 work as a camcorder, it also makes a great HD webcam or baby monitor.
The Camileo P100 is a pistol-grip style compact camcorder with a few more advanced features than the B10. Like the B10, the P100 can record 1080p full HD video and 16-megapixel still images. Also like the B10, the P100 features motion detection, face tracking, a webcam mode, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card support, a built-in video light and USB 2.0 and HDMI connections.
More advanced features on the P100 include an 8-megapixel CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom, 8x advanced zoom and a swiveling, three inch touch screen display. The P100 even lets you pause and resume while recording video, creating one continuous file instead of multiple smaller files. The P100 is 2.68 inches wide by 4.37 inches high by 1.26 inches thick and it weighs 4.59 ounces.
