Olympus has introduced its third-generation Digital Pen, the Olympus Pen E-P3. Available in a choice of white, black, or silver, the Olympus E-P3 features a 12.3MP Live MOS imaging sensor, which utilizes Olympus’s Fine Detail Processing Technology, all of which is driven by a TruePic VI imaging processor.

Other features found on the new Pen E-P3 include solid, all-metal construction, a vastly improved 35-point autofocusing system, a tri-mode image stabilization system, a 3D imaging mode, quicker shutter-response times, an extremely bright, 614,000-dot 3.0” OLED touch screen, a top ISO sensitivity of 12800, a pop-up flash and up to 29 minutes of 1080i HD video capture in a choice of AVCHD or AVI formats.

On the creative side, the Olympus E-P3 also features a choice of 10 Art Filters, including what Olympus calls a “Dramatic Tone” filter that heightens the tonality and color and adds what can truly be called a sense of drama to your stills and video.

In addition to the new camera, Olympus has also announced two new wide-aperture prime lenses: an M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 (24mm equivalent) and an M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.8 (90mm equivalent), which should prove to be quite popular among low-light photographers.

The Olympus Pen E-P3, which will be available with a choice of a 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom or a 17mm f/2.8 prime lens as well as both of the new fast prime lenses, should be available sometime in August.
