Rough-and-Tumble and Dunk-able Full-HD Camcorders from Panasonic

There’s something about cameras and camcorders that can survive dunks, drops and grit and temperature extremes. With these attributes in mind, Panasonic has introduced a trio of Full-HD-recording camcorders that depending on the model you choose are waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and freeze proof.

Along with Full HD 1080p video capture, 16MP stills (2MP when catching stills during video recording) and a backside-illuminated CMOS sensor for shooting under the most miserable lighting conditions, the new Panasonic Camcorder HX-WA10 can hold its breath and snap video underwater at depths of up to 9.8’ (3m) for up to an hour at a clip (pun intended).

Other features found on the Panasonic Camcorder HX-WA10 include a 5x optical zoom, a tiltable 2.7” TFT LCD, an easy to grip, pistol-style vertical design, Electrical Image Stabilization (E.I.S.), easy uploading to YouTube and Facebook, stereo mics, an iA (Auto Intelligent) exposure mode, HDMI connectivity and MP4 recording for PC no-hassle networking. The Panasonic Camcorder HX-WA10 will be arriving on our shelves in time for your first pool party.

For those seeking a compact camcorder that’s not only waterproof, but shockproof, dustproof, and freeze proof, too, Panasonic is also rolling out the HM-TA20 HD Mobile Camera, which in addition to being waterproof down to 9.8’ (3m) is also shockproof from falls of up to 4.9’ (1.5m), and it's dustproof.

Like the Panasonic Camcorder HX-WA10, the HM-TA20 HD Mobile Camera captures Full HD 1080p video and can also capture 8MP stills. Other features include a 3” touch-screen LCD, Electrical Image Stabilization (E.I.S.), simultaneous  linear PCM audio recording with stills, HDMI connectivity, sepia, monochrome and soft-skin filters and a 4x digital zoom.

The third member of the new troika is the Panasonic TA2 HD Mobile Camera, which features a 3” touch-screen LCD, a Night View mode, and an itty-bitty tripod that should make it easier to include yourself in the action.
