Fast AF: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Share

Featuring the FAST AF system, as well as 5-axis in-body image stabilization, the OM-D E-M1 Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera is a quick and powerful 16.3-megapixel camera body that sits at the top of Olympus’s mirrorless lineup. The camera pairs a Live MOS sensor with the TruePic VII image processor to produce high-resolution stills and full HD 1080p video at ISOs from 100-25600. The combination also contributes to the 1/8000-second shutter speed and continuous shooting at up to 10 fps. Additionally, the sensor design incorporates both phase- and contrast-detection focusing points for accurate and speedy autofocus.

Further enhancing image quality is the 5-axis in-body image stabilization, which compensates for vertical, horizontal, and rolling camera shake. An IS Auto mode is available, which disengages the system along the detected panning axes for photographing moving objects.

The rugged magnesium-alloy body is dust-, splash-, and freeze proof, and lightweight at just 1 lb. It features a 2,360k-dot EVF and a 3.0" 1,037k-dot tilting touchscreen LCD. The viewfinder offers 1.48x magnification for comfort and the LCD screen can tilt up 80° or down 50° for low- and high-angle shooting. The E-M1 also has a large grip for better handling, along with an X-sync socket, HDMI port, external microphone jack, and hot shoe.

Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity is available for wireless control via the Olympus O.I. Share app for iOS and Android devices. The latest firmware version 2.0 adds tethered shooting with the OLYMPUS Capture system, digital keystone compensation, a live composition mode, a couple of new art filters, and improved operability.
