Four New 4K Cameras from JVC: NAB 2014

JVC was busy at NAB 2014, introducing four 4K cameras or camera prototypes with the same Super 35 sensor. THE GY-LSX1 is a shoulder-mount camera with built-in rosettes and a PL mount. Unveiled: Panasonic VariCam 35 4K Camera

Panasonic introduced its new VariCam 35, which has a Super-35-sized sensor and shoots DCI-spec 4K (as well as 2K and HD) to Express P2 cards. The modular PL-mount VariCam captures up to 120 fps 4K to P2 cards and uncompressed RAW 4K at 120 fps to the new Codex recorder. Hands-On Review: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 records 4K video internally, as well as 1080p up to 96 fps. The Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera has a short flange distance, so it's easy to adapt a wide variety of older and current lenses for the GH4. Here, the camera is seated on the YAGH interface that takes advantage of the Lumix GH4's 10-bit HDMI output to pass through 4x SDI (to send out uncompressed 4K) and input XLR audio.

Livestream Announces New Modular Studio Surface

Over the past few years, Livestream has grown from being solely a software-based video streaming service aimed at the consumer market to a serious competitor to professional live-switching and mixing services such as TriCaster. The current LiveStream Studio software and hardware is able to perform many of the same complex real-time mixing and graphics functions of high-end systems for a fraction of the cost. Until recently, they have had one large drawback when compared to the high-end competition—the lack of a dedicated control surface.

Unveiled: New Panasonic Large-Format 4K LED Displays

When it comes to 4K TV, bigger is always better. More specifically, big TVs are always better if they’re 4K. Even though very little native 4K content is currently available, 4K TVs can up-convert standard HD content to near-4K quality. You see, once you get beyond 60 inches or so in size, full-HD TVs don’t look all that sharp, especially when viewed from a short distance. But with four times the resolution of 2K TVs, 4K TVs currently display the sharpest image possible from a 2K signal.
