Atlona Offers Comprehensive Video and Audio-Integration Solutions
Home theater systems, whole-house audio systems and their corporate equivalents are big business these days. Of course, B&H carries everything that home enthusiasts and professionals need to assemble these systems. Whether it’s flat-screen TVs, home-theater systems, audio amplifiers, speakers, computers or any kind of related accessory, B&H is your go-to resource. Less prominent, but equally important in these systems, is the gear that knits everything together so the components can function as a whole. And B&H carries all of that equipment, too.
Atlona Technologies is a big manufacturer of audio-video gear, with a product line that encompasses connectivity solutions of all types. Atlona’s gear is commonly used by consumers, and even more so in the fields of broadcasting, entertainment, medical imaging and government. Standard-definition equipment is largely ignored today, as the focus is now on high-definition gear that is evolving at an alarming rate. Fortunately, Atlona has been able to keep up with this fast-paced evolution by introducing new equipment at an equally furious pace.
Atlona equipment lets installers and integrators build consumer solutions such as smart home installations, whole home audio systems, custom home theaters and more, and it’s easy to integrate new technologies such as 3D or legacy gear—including DVD players and older gaming systems. Atlona’s equipment is compatible with all popular control systems including AMX, Crestron, RTI and Control 4.
Commercial applications include boardroom video-conferencing and AV solutions, distance learning, digital signage, hotel and motel hospitality solutions, medical imaging, event centers, houses of worship, broadcasting, education and other scenarios. Let’s take a look at some of the Atlona gear in B&H’s inventory.
Adapters and converters allow you to attach one type of connector to another or to convert one signal type to another. This is necessary when you want to feed, say, a VGA signal into an HDMI input, or to convert an NTSC signal to PAL.
Atlona’s converters and adapters run the gamut, allowing just about any connectivity you could imagine. Adapters for all popular connectors are offered, including HDMI and DVI, DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort, VGA and Component, BNC and RCA. A wide variety of converters are available as well, including PC, TV, PAL, NTSC, analog and digital audio, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA, Component, 3G/HD/SD SDI and much, much more.
Switches are used to select one signal for transmission or viewing from many. For example, a newsroom might be receiving several live video feeds and needs to switch between them as the news report progresses from story to story. Atlona makes switches for HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA, RGBHV, Component video, S-Video, composite, BNC and 3G/HD/SD SDI video and even makes KVM, or Keyboard-Video-Mouse switches.
Amplifiers are used to boost signal strength, either to compensate for signal loss or to match the signal level to meet the requirements of specific equipment. Splitters are used to feed one signal to two or more pieces of equipment while maintaining signal strength and avoiding any degradation. Atlona manufactures amplifiers and splitters for all types of signals including HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA, RGBHV, component video, S-Video, composite video, 3G/HD/SD SDI and digital and analog audio.
Extenders are used to send signals farther than they’re normally transmitted, sometimes by cable and sometimes wirelessly. Atlona makes extenders for HDMI, DVI, VGA and component, composite and 3G/HD/SD SDI video, for RS232, IR and USB signals and for KVMs.
Atlona makes many other products, including wireless transmitters, for sending the video output from a computer to an HDTV set, signal generators used for troubleshooting and testing, field monitors and more. Many Atlona products support 3D. Along with other various accessories, Atlona also makes cables and mounting hardware to enable complete installations.
