Veteran pro wildlife photographer David Cardinal will help shooters of all experience levels improve their images by taking us through a field tested approach to photographing mammals and birds around the world. From planning, preparation and gear selection through capturing subject and action to a streamlined post shoot workflow David will let you in on the tips and tricks that he’s developed over the years for delivering award winning results and unique images.

Most importantly David will share with us a wide variety of illustrative images along with how proper planning and photo techniques made them possible.

Topics covered will include:
• Planning for a photo safari, site & biology research
• Gear selection, trip preparation, knowing yourself and your goals
• In the field: The need for speed--learning to think and react like a pro
• Composition: Subject and species specific approaches
• Repeat when necessary: Learning day by day
• Polishing and promoting your images
• Case Studies: Striking images, why they work and how they were created

Wildlife photographers of all levels will learn plenty of new tools and tips to add to their bag of tricks. Landscape photographers will get a great overview and ’bootcamp’ on how to take advantage of wildlife photo opportunities. Experienced wildlife photographers will learn new techniques from Mr. Cardinal’s many years in the field.

David Cardinal

David Cardinal is a veteran award-winning professional nature photographer who has led dozens of digital photo safaris over the last decade to Africa, Alaska, Southeast Asia, and around the USA. His work and articles on photography are frequently featured in national magazines including Outdoor Photographer, Photoshop User, PC Magazine and others, as well as in the commercial publications of his clients including the BBC, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, California Fish and Game, National Wildlife Federation, American Prairie Foundation, Lexar, Draper, Point Reyes Bird Observatory, and on the covers of books from Sybex and Peachpit. David is leading another trip to photograph the peoples and temples of Cambodia and Burma (Myanmar) in December, and the birds of Texas in the Hill Country and the Rio Grande Valley in May next year, and the Brown Bears of Alaska in July, 2014.
