Wednesday, March 28, 2012  |  1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Speakers: Frank Doorhof
Event Type: Photography
Skill Level: Intermediate
In this fun and informative seminar Fashion Photographer Frank Doorhof will show you some simple tips and tricks that can make your images speak instead of turning out boring. Frank will discuss not only model photography but also street, sports and landscape photography. He will also give you some tips to turn a mundane trip or location into a photographic opportunity by just "seeing different".

Starting out with some basic tips about angle of view, reaction time, asking or not asking people and knowing what your limits are with the law you will quickly build up to adding the pieces together and creating much more interesting shots than before. In addition attention is given to the use of light meters and color checkers, workflow etc.

Both photography and teaching have been in Frank’s blood from a very young age. Frank has released a book called "A Guide to Model Photography” and nine instructional DVDs which are sold worldwide. In the studio in Emmeloord, Netherlands Frank teaches workshops on a weekly basis, but he also teaches workshops in other countries, sometimes for manufacturers but also for groups of photographers. In 2010 Frank was the first European photographer to join Kelby training, a group of the world's best instructors in both photography and retouching. Frank shoots mainly with medium format digital, at this moment a Leaf digital back connected to a Mamiya RZ67ProII for studio work and a Phase One DF camera with Leaf back for location work, for the sports and other areas of photography that cannot or are difficult to shoot with medium format he uses canon DSLRs. Although Frank loves digital he rediscovered analogue when he switched to medium format and is shooting film sometimes with the RZ67ProII, the scans from the 6×7 negatives/slides are just great and have a certain look you can’t get really easy with digital, and with the medium format system film and digital is very easily combined.
