Janice Wendt from Nik Software will demonstrate how to best work with your files, from RAW capture to output using the award winning Nik Software tools. You will learn how to easily work with your files to create stunning black & white images. Techniques that will be taught in this lecture will remove the need for tedious selections and endless numbers of steps. Janice will teach how to get the most out of your workflow, optimizing raw images, noise reduction techniques, global adjustments vs. targeted adjustments, selective enhancements, bringing out detail, applying traditional techniques, black and white images from color capture and creating a style with your retouching.

Eric Luden, Owner of Digital Silver Imaging, will discuss more about output and their unique black & white printing methods. DSI incorporates cutting edge laser printing technology from Durst with true gelatin silver papers from Ilford Photo to produce stunning black & white prints. DSI was an early adopter of Silver Efex Pro and has been recommending the software to their clients for the past 15 months. “Silver Efex Pro takes the mystery out of the black & white digital workflow and allows the photographer total control, without all the headaches”.

Eric Luden

Digital Silver Imaging was founded by Eric Luden, a former executive at Ilford Photo and a noted commercial and fine art photographer. In the 1980s, Eric worked with a variety of clients and exhibited his black & white photographs throughout New England. During the 90s, he served as a consultant with Eastman Kodak's black & white division before joining Ilford, where he worked for over 12 years. In 2006, he became the VP of North American Marketing for Ilford's parent company, HARMAN technology. Eric's understanding of Ilford and HARMAN papers is unparalleled. He brings decades of print experience to Digital Silver Imaging, having worked with leading inkjet companies and traditional photo manufacturers. What's more, he has worked closely with photographers, educators, and photo labs throughout his career. Through Eric's knowledge of silver gelatin papers, digital laser technology, and black & white printing, DSI is positioned to become the region's premier digital black & white lab, serving photographers throughout New England and beyond.

Janice Wendt

Janice Wendt, Channel Sales Manager at Nik Software, has become one of the industry's most respected and leading retouch and image enhancement artists, often "training the trainers" on numerous techniques related to digital imaging. Janice educates professionals nationally in subjects related to the digital capture process, digital workflow and offers a practical view of retouching featuring alternative, time saving techniques for both the professional and beginning photographer. Janice is an experienced commercial and portrait photographer with over 25 years of experience working in film photography and is a highly accomplished practitioner of digital imaging and photographic retouching. Before joining Nik Software, Inc. Janice worked as a photographic product manager for OmegaSatter managing a broad range of products in their photographic product distribution division from cameras to paper products.
