The main reason I purchased this cable was the fact my Nikon SB-700 does not have a sync connector other than the hotshoe. I have tried other hotshoe adapters, but none would allow the speedlight to lock into the connector - this allowed the speedlight connection to slip out. (at the worst times) This cable will allow the speedlight locking pin to work! As a plus, the actual wire cable is VERY flexible and easy to handle. The 1/4-20 mount on the bottom makes it easy to use with lightstands and umbrella mounts. A very quick and easy solution to using radio triggers with speedlights. It also worked well with a 45 year old Vivitar 283!

This PocketWizard adapter will work for your SB-600, but I had read many reviews stating that it could not be clamped down, that it basically shorts out the flash. I have been able to make the lock functional with the adapter.

I bought it since I figured this was the most appropriate adapter to mate up to my new PocketWizards. When I received it, I also experienced that the flash would not fire once "locked". I believe that the pin that is pushed out on the bottom of the flash when the lock is engaged, is shorting out the flash when it goes into the small hole on the top of the adapter. I used a small piece of electrical tape, and pressed it over top of the hole in the adapter. Now, I can engage the lock, the flash is now locked into the adapter, and it continues to fire correctly when triggered.

Again, all that is needed: Press a small square of electrical tape onto this adapter so that it covers the locking hole in the shoe, but not the circular contact in the middle. The tape will flex a bit when the lock plunges into that hole, but not give through to the contacts.

Ultimately, I am not completely familiar with all flash mechanics to understand why this hole necessarily had metal contacts in it, which are proving to be an issue with the SB-600. This COULD be Nikon's fault. But, this is a frustrating fix to make on such an expensive adapter, especially when others are available that work perfectly fine for very little money. I will be trying this out over the next few days, but I may end up going with a cheaper unit that seems to not have this issue.

Comments about PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable (3'):

Replacing older and cheaper sync cables to trigger my PW. This cable has a nice length, sure at times it could be too long, but it is better to have the length and not need it than need it and not have it. It seems to be built to last and the locking mechanism does it job well. I also like the tripod socket on its bottom.

TG, you saved me a lot of headaches. Thank you!
Keep it unlocked with the SB-600, or it will not fire, for some reason.

I like having the cord and hot shoe all in one so there are fewer connections to worry about.

I gave 4 stars versus 5 only because I think the product is overpriced for what it is (yet I'm the one who bought it).

I bought it a long with a Plus X Transceiver for my Canon 430ex II. The 430ex II latches on the hot shoe securely. The bottom also latches to Vello Universal Accessory Shoe Mount securely as well.

Very easy to use with one minor design flaw for my sb-600. The flash will fire on its own if you lock the flash to the mount. So if you leave it unlocked it works just fine just more room to break your flash.
