There is no substitute. With each new version Wacom improves upon their already brilliant piece of technology. There is absolutely no way you can edit photography without one. There are zealots who claim otherwise, but that's only because they haven't used one yet. The infinite amount of detail with which you can control your editing in no way can a mouse compare. With this version, they even include a wifi kit which is absolutely perfect in every way! The customization allowed on this tablet is superior and makes your workflow so much more efficient, if you're not using one, you might as well be using an Etch-a-Sketch. Check out some of my tutorial videos on YouTube for a live example of how I use mine.

I have been using Wacom tablets for years. I purchased the Intuos Pro in January. I use it primarily for photo editing work.

Shortly after the purchase I started setting up some of the more advanced features in the control panel software, like display mappings for each application, Express Keys, Touch Ring, Radial Menu, etc. It did not take long for me to discover issues with their software. Mapping settings were not persistent, and had to be re-mapped every time I rebooted. The Radial Menu only worked on Display 1, not 2.

I contacted support and they acknowledge these as issues and stated that future releases would rectify the problems. That was true, but I had to wait about 3 more months to see those fixes.

Just this month my wireless adapter died. I diid an RMA. The new unit seems to work, but it was a bear to setup. I ran into all types of issues getting the device to work. Finally got it working, but still today, when I am connect wirelessly, the Wacom preferences show "No Tablet Found" but the device works. And I can see the tablet in the control panel software (which is good).

The worst part of the whole scenario, is the disappearance of support. After the RMA they have not responded to a single request for additional help. That is quite surprising for a device they call "Pro".

After years of struggling with detail editing using mouse or trackpad, and knowing that I needed to get to the next level of control, I finally purchased the Intuos. There was no reason I should have waited this long. Awesome tool.

I have older Intuos Medium Tablet and I love it! But I bought a new iMac and wanted to update to a new Intuos Pro. They both are great, I can not use a mouse because my hand cramps, this is the only product I use. I really recommend Wacom. The only negative is that the pens will wear out and will need to be replaced.

It's been one year and a half I have been using the Wacom Intuos Pro in medium size and it is really a must have for photographers and graphic designers (I do both). Nothing beats its comfort and its precision. However there is a learning process that might be hard to apprehend for some people since it changes your whole way of working. At first my work flow got around 4 times slower, however after about a month I was able to go about two times faster than before I owned this tablet. If you buy it be aware that it is not gonna be an out of the box improvement, it requires experience! But it is totally worth it.
If you have more money to spend on a tablet and want an out of the box improvement, go for the Cintiq.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I do video editing and motion graphics and was looking for a mouse alternative, as my hand would cramp up by the end of a workday. After much research I decided to branch out and try the Wacom. I've been using it exclusively, in leu of a mouse, for about a week now, and don't think I will ever being going back. The best way I can describe it is like trading in a tank for a sports car with loose handling. Even though I've stumbled my way through the learning process, I already feel like I'm working faster and have less wrist/hand discomfort. There has been some glitchiness panning and zooming in Premiere and After Effects, but you find work arounds, and using the the brush tool in Illustrator is a dream. Happy to no longer be dragging and clicking like a clunk machine.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

This model replaces an 11-year-old large Intuos 3. The wear pattern on the surface of the old unit fits exactly the dimensions of the active area of the medium, so the large size really isn't necessary for me or for most people probably, unless you love to make big sweeping gestures or want to divide the space between two monitors.

I use this for creating artwork in PhotoShop and Illustrator, mainly, and for easier navigation of Adobe programs like After Effects, which I use for animation. The pen feels really good in the hand and is more sensitive and responsive than the older model. The tablet surface also has a slight matte finish which I like. So, the four stars are for those qualities.

However, the side controls are, for me, a bit of a nuisance. I don't like how the menu graphic pops up on the screen anytime my left hand comes near them. The round scroll/zoom, control doesn't work very well for me. The buttons work fine, and it's nice to be able to reassign functions to them, but all in all, I prefer using my keyboard.

The touch capability was something I thought would really be helpful, but I turn it off most of the time. The two finger zoom doesn't work at all with my CS6 programs...a feature I was really looking forward to. It works better on the chrome web browser.

Wireless is nice...no lag time. The battery needs to be charged every day, but if you take care of that overnight, you're good to go in the morning. I'll bet a heavy user would have to recharge during the day or just use it with the USB cable plugged in.

Some of the touch and button control issues may be improved with driver upgrades in the future, but for me, it's just a nice upgrade as a straight pro-level pen tablet without the bells and whistles.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I was forced to upgrade from a Wacom Intuos 3 after my cat chewed through the USB cord. The Intuos Pro Medium really is an upgrade in certain areas-- the extra Express Keys and the Touch Ring are really useful and efficient, and I like the cordless option. However, the tablet falls short in a few key areas that it really shouldn't, given the price tag.

Durability: The active area scratches easily. I had the 3 for at least 10 years, and have had the Pro for just under 3 months; it's already showing more wear than the 3 (and with rather light, non-daily use).

Pen nibs: I've already gone through more of these than in the 3's ten years, as well. They wear down very quickly to a point sharp enough to score paper (hence all the scratches).

Software: The driver resets some of my Photoshop preferences every time I start my computer (so that I have to reassign certain Express Keys), and has on several occasions uninstalled itself completely.

Other: The velvety, matte finish feels nice but is a magnet for dust and fingerprints; I store it in the plastic bag it came in, inside a laptop sleeve, just to keep it clean when not in use. (The 3's shiny plastic exterior was much easier to clean.)

I have been doing my work in Photoshop with a mouse or a tracker pad. It worked but was less accurate and didn't have the pressure sensitive feature of the Wacom tablet. The pressure sensitivity is worth buying the tablet alone. The tablet has so many ways it can be customized allowing you to work the way you work. I am glad I made the purchase. It does have a steep learning curve as you adjust to working with the pen and tablet. Also, I was considering the large tablet but bought the medium instead and am very glad I did. The large would require a lot of desktop real estate.

I've been skeptical of tablet-ing for a long time. I thought my magic mouse did the trick when attempting fancy Photoshop tricks. I was WRONG. The Wacom has absolutely changed my practice, and therein, my life. Easy to use (I just plug play) and absolutely accurate.
Highly, highly recommend. I'm just sorry that I was so late to the game.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I have just started to use it - looks like a steep learning curve but will be invaluable once I am comfortable with the "tool". I use it for photography - Lightroom and Photoshop. Looking forward to becoming adept with it.
On the support side, I called when I couldn't get anything on the registration page but a logo, a couple of colored bands and a copyright notice. This was happening on 2 browsers (Safari an Firefox( but, most importantly, on their own application - "Wacom Desktop Center". I tried desperately to explain to the support person that all of my software was up to date and that the fact that it was happening with their own application eliminated the browsers as an issue. He still went into his "script" about flushing my browser caches and even a long discussion about what driver level I was running (for the Wacom tablet) was not relevant . He just didn't have a clue. I asked to speak to a supervisor and after going through the same information with her and a rather long discussion about why the browsers weren't relevant, she finally told me that some other people had had the same problem and they found that if you did a Google search for their registration page, the link there got you to the right place. It did. I then explained that it sounded like one of their servers had a bad link/was redirecting (which it was - you could see it happening in the browser address bar) and why it had taken 45 minutes of my time to get an workaround for a known problem. No response. The fact that the first line support person was so useless doesn't bode well for when I need real support for the product. It doesn't bode well. It's a shame when a company with a good product provides such incompetant (outsourced) support.

Wacom has now been able to duplicate the issue and has confirmed there is a problem. It seem to be isolated to a recent release of Windows 10. They are working with Microsoft and Adobe to come up with a fix. No time frame yet. I had to send them a video of what I was experiencing in order to duplicate the problem. I am encouraged at this point. Hopefully a fix soon.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I really wanted this tablet to work. I have the Intuos Pro medium. I thought it was important to let others know the problems I have been having that Wacom has been unable to resolve. It is interesting that I haven't seen many reports of these issues on any of the online retail sites. I have been working with it a lot since I purchased it approximately two weeks ago. I have even been taking a number of training courses both on the tablet and Adobe products. There seems to be a problem with the driver for this product and Windows 10 and/or Adobe products such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge but I am even having problems just with Windows applications. In order to get it to work at all I have to turn off a feature that disables the pen pressure mode which is one of the primary reasons I purchased this tablet. The issue is that there is a horrible delay trying to use the pen to perform simple acts. It is almost impossible to click on a slider bar and drag it. There are also issues trying to select file folders. The delay is about 10 seconds. I am forced to constantly go back to my mouse.

I have been on the phone with technical support several times and so far they've been unable to resolve the issue. And I have to admit that their technical support has been very poor. I think they are overwhelmed with technical issues. I finally got with a supervisor who has been somewhat helpful but still has been unable to resolve the issue. In addition, they are not responding to support emails and are not responding on the Wacom forum. I am not the only one having these problems. The problem does not seem to only be with Windows I have read reports of issues with people using Apple operating systems. They do answer their phone fairly quickly but the technical support has been poor. They started down the path of having me reinstall the applications. Even after doing a completely fresh install of Windows 10 and all of my Adobe applications I am still experiencing the same problems.

I hope that there able to get the problem resolved. If they cannot resolve these issues there is no sense in keeping it. If it wasn't for their poor technical support, I might have given them a slightly higher rating but the combination of the problems and poor technical support force me to give them the lowest possible rating. From what I can read the problem seems to be primarily with Windows 10 and the two latest Apple operating systems.

I am a graphic designer and illustrator. I often use adobe photoshop, illustrator and indesign. The driver is easy to set up for wireless or to use via cable. Highly recommend the Intros Pro to anyone who needs more control than a mouse can provide.

I've been using Wacom products for years and I remember there WAS a learning curve to figure out movement and translate what you are wanting to the computer. But now it feels as natural as writing with a pen and paper.
