The sound of these phones is very bassy to the point of being a little muddy. I used a moderate bass rolloff and felt that I liked the sound. High are bright, but the midrange needed a little boost with EQ.

They work better directly connected than through bluetooth. Bluetooth has to use a compressed codec to fit a stereo signal into its bandwidth. No manufacturer can change this. It is CD quality, at best. Not bad, but not high resolution either. This is a very good implementation.

You can use these phones to make and receive calls on your phone. The audio is slightly hollow sounding to the other party, but not bad. The only problem is that your voice does not come back through the phones. Due to their quite good sound isolation, I found this awkward.

Bluetooth range is less than I expected. Maybe this has to do with the bandwidth requirements.

I have no devices with NFC so I can't comment on this feature.

Pairing with devices was smooth. Beware though, if you have multiple bluetooth devices it may not pair with the one you think it will. Had to turn off bluetooth on my Mac to pair with my iPhone. All bluetooth devices have this problem.

    Phones are very comfortable.

Overall no bluetooth headphone will outperform a good set of wired phones, but this one gives you the option to plug in for critical listening.

These are not horrible, just not what I would expect from Sony and at this price point. Whether connected via Bluetooth or with cable the midbass is very boomy and muddy. The mids are very low. This is the first set of headphones I had to boost the mids on my equalizer. I also hade to cut the midbass down about 6db to get rid of the irritating, muddy bass. My in ear Klipsh s4 are SO much BETTER sounding it is ridiculous. I even did 40 hrs of burn in with JLABs burn in tool after the sound out of the box was subpar. It made no difference. I will be looking for a better Bluetoth option and giving these away. I was really hoping for more.

    Superb and Just right sound

    By William

Comments about Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones:

The sound quality is just right. Sound varies on the song being played. Just adjust the equalizer of your player and its good to go. Perfect size. The design is presentable. Happy to have it. Tested other headphones on stores, some are expensive because of its packaging and how they are advertised. I highly recommend this item. You will never regret it.

Comments about Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones:

Product came as described. Very nice packaging. Elegant design. Soft ear cups. I'm still currently in break in phase. However they feel and sound great already. They are light enough for extended wear but the fit isn't as tight as I'd like. Bluetooth works great, no problems there. Only con would be nfc with my Xperia isn't too fast. Could be my phone's case but it's not a deal breaker in the least. Overall, great product with amazing battery life.

CONVENIENT BLUETOOTH RANGE OF MOBILITY ABOUT 30' ENABLES ME TO LISTEN OUTSIDE OF MY ROOM. SETUP AND RECHARGE PROCESSES ARE PLUG & PLAY NOT PRAY. HOWEVER IF YOUR WINDOWS 7 SYSTEM WON'T HAVE THE SOFTWARE FOR THIS PHONE BUT STILL BE ABLE TO 1ST FULLY CHARGE FOR ABOUT 2.5 HRS. THE BATTERY WILL LAST FOR A FEW HRS BEFORE NEXT CHARGE. FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITIES ARE RIGHT TO AT YOUR TOUCH. EXCELLENT QUALITY AND STYLE FOR A FAIR PRICE.

Comments about Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones:

After spending many hours reading reviews, specifications etc on bluetooth headphones, I decided on these Sony MDR-10RBT Headphones.I use them to listen to music on my Samsung Galaxy Tablets and my S3 cell phone. At first the bass seemed to be very strong causing the midrange vocals to be restricted, but after using them for several days, they now have a very nice balance and sound that is very clean with a blend of bass,
mids and hi's for an excellent listening experience. Naturally it is essential that the music is from a hi quality source to achieve this.

Comments about Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones:

From the factory they have too much bass, although this is just how they are tuned. Fortunately the speakers in these headphones can produce very accurate, very powerful bass, mids and highs all at the same time, very very clearly. However, you WILL need to turn down the bass for optimal listening for most songs, which isn't very difficult. These have infinite battery life, very good range, and don't cut out using a $[$]bluetooth dongle on my PC, or while using my cell phone or laptop. I tried some other bluetooth headphones and they did cut out, so these Sony's have very good bluetooth reception. These are extremely comfortable, perfect in fact, and the pad on the top is super soft on the top of your head, the ear pads are not so soft that they will rip, but they are very soft and plush. These are very well made. With an EQ setting to bring up the mids slightly, these headphones sound so crisp with such a beautiful sound. But beware you need to break these in, as the bass gets tighter and cleaner, and the mids get brighter the more you listen to them. These weigh less than my corded headphones that have no metal on them at all - and these have metal on them in the headband. These are constructed VERY well, the best from any headphone I've tried before. You would never know they are cordless because they are so light and compact - but not cheap feeling. If you turn down the bass a little bit using your equalizer in your music player settings, you will be amazed with how clear and clean the mids and highs sound, without sounding shrill, fake or too bright. You can listen to these all day, and all night, and never have any ear fatigue. Their tone is so smooth and warm, it's a wonderful sound. The bass has the potential to beat any headphones, nothing would beat these for bass, in shear volume, low extension and power. When plugged in, the lower frequency extension is just unreal, because it's so clear and even when in blue tooth mode, you cannot make these headphones have even the slightest hint of distortion.Turn down the bass and the mids are utterly perfect. I took one star off because they should have turned down the bass from the factory through the default tuning, but it's not detrimental since a simple EQ change reduces the bass to perfect levels while still retaining very good punch.

Comments about Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones:

The MDR-10RBTs are a good value, have a wide frequency response. They can be used corded also. The Sony MDR-1RBTs sound better, but cost more. The MDR-10s are portable, not too big.
