Comments about Sachtler Ace L GS CF Tripod System with Ground Spreader:

Looked a little flimsier than I had expected but works great with my FS7 and AC7 monitor. The ground spreader version enable the tripod to go lower and higher that the mid-spreader version. Absolutely can't beat how lightweight it is for a video tripod.

Comments about Sachtler Ace L GS CF Tripod System with Ground Spreader:

The number one feature that will make this tripod worth it is its weight. For the "run and gun" filmmaker, not lugging a heavy tripod all day will give you a few more hours of shooting before you're completely beat.
The downside however is that I feel this tripod wants more weight on it that a simple DSLR or small video rig. I almost feel like I should hang a sand bag from the hook under the head just to give it some more stability. The panning and titling are decent. The other issue is that I feel that the ball head should have a few more degrees of adjustment. Finally, I feel that the hand is too thin in your hand and it is far too short. I plan on buying a longer handle with an extension.
Still, without buying a "real" $4000 Sachtler, this would be a really good choice for many documentarians and limited crew shoots.

Comments about Sachtler Ace L GS CF Tripod System with Ground Spreader:

I wanted the reliability of a Sachtler, and the odds of me using more than a DSLR are slim, or an Epic so I didn't need a tripod that supported 20lbs, but I wanted more than 8. I also was trying to avoid $3k for the head alone. This is a great middle ground. I wish it was 100mm ball so it was more versatile with other support, but I think the weight factor is more limiting. For general DSLR video it is great though. Light, quick, smooth.
