I normally don't write reviews, but since this is pretty new and there are very few reviews out there, I thought I'd write one. I purchased this mouse to replace the older, corded one I use for work and this thing is awesome. It's a little more expensive than the corded one, but I think the added price is well worth it. The cable on the older one started to break around the base from being creased and mushed from being tossed in my backpack numerous times. I travel a lot and am often required to do work away from the office, so the micro usb charge cable (which you can also use tethered to your computer) saves you the pain of travelling with another unique cable. This coupled with the lack of a hard corded cable makes for a very nice piece of gear. Like the previous one, the build quality is very nice and I have little fear of throwing it in my backpack and having it break (especially with the lack of cable). The one I had prior to this slid around a lot, causing slight frustration when trying to navigate larger or oddly shaped assemblies. The new one does NOT have this problem whatsoever. The unit is a bit heavier and has a nice grippy base. The other nice thing about it is that the base is more rectangular, rather than round so it's easy to spot if the mouse is in a weird orientation. I haven't had the unit for very long so I cannot comment on battery life, but I've been using it pretty regularly for about 1.5 weeks on a single charge. I'd say that's pretty good considering my Lenovo Laptop barely lasts for 1.5 hours fully charged with 50% screen brightness.PROS:+Nice heavy base, prevents it from moving around while working+Works very well and easily with Autodesk Inventor 2012 and 2014 on Windows 7+Charges and tethers with Microusb cable+Square base allows for easy adjustment during useCONS:-NONEI apologize for the typos and run on sentences. Hope this helps!

I bought this mouse for my husband to use on his MacPro Mountain Lion 10.8.5. He is trying out a trial version of Maya and I thought the Spacemouse would be cool birthday present to him. We loaded the software driver (not the one included on cd in box, but the newest from the 3Dconnexion website v10.0.14) and Mac just beach balled (kernel panic) when he rebooted after install. Rebooted in safe mode and could not see/ use the Spacemouse Wireless. One of a few 'training' apps included was seen in the applications folder which worked! It is the one where you train how to restock blocks in a cube. But, alas, nothing else worked, even Maya refrained from opening. He uninstalled the software + driver and rebooted. Mac back to normal self. Spacemouse now sits on his desk gathering dust... Still waiting for e-mail answers from 3Dconnexion support.

this is a replacement for my spacenavigator as wireless is much easier to deal with. It is used to navigate photos in Photoshop in tandem with splashtop and a stylus for photo editing.

Comments about 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Wireless 3D Mouse:

I bought this to make navigating my various Autodesk 3D graphics programs easier. All of my programs (not necessarily versions) are supported according to 3Dconnexion; but...

Inventor 2015 works great with the mouse which is the primary application I bought it for.

3DS MAX 2014 works great with it too; though I had to reverse the directions of travel in the software for it to make sense to me. No big deal, which is why a reverse switch is available in the application specific software settings.

Revit 2015 is dodgy at best with slow reaction times. 3Dconnexion states Revit 2012 is the supported version.

The mouse is worthless in AutoCAD 2015 for 3D work as it is hideously slow and unresponsive. Granted most people use other programs than AutoCAD for 3D work; but sometimes the need arises. Using the mouse in AutoCAD reminded me of the first time I tried Flight Simulator on an 8088 or 286 powered PC.

The mouse is great with Google Earth.

The mouse is heavy so it stays put on my desk when I pull the cap up to pan up. It also has a sticky silicone (I'm guessing) pad to keep it from sliding on my desk.

It takes a bit of getting used to as the mouse is used by the least dominant hand; but that's no big deal.

I knocked a star off for a couple of reasons. The mouse isn't recognized by Logitech's transceiver and unifying software, so I had use up a port for the Spacemouse's transceiver. 3Dconnexion is owned by Logitech.

The other reason I knocked a star off is that it uses a rechargeable battery instead of AA's like my Logitech Marathon M705 mouse. So although it's cordless you still need a cord nearby to recharge it, and it uses a micro USB port like cell phones do, which I find a pain to connect.

Bottom line is that this 3D mouse complements the standard 3D navigation tools built into each 3D application. I still use zoom window, top, front, left, etc when I need more precise navigation.

Comments about 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Wireless 3D Mouse:

The 3D Mouse is a great idea but it's not paying off for me yet. I'm using Cinema4D and often times the viewport has trouble catching up to the subtleties of the 3dMouse. This results in overshooting my targets. Also I haven't figured out yet how to set rotation points (as you'd usually do with pointing the mouse) so long story short: it doesn't fit in my workflow yet. I still want to give it some more chances but so far I couldn't find any help online of people that figured out how to tame it for Cinema4D.

It would be a perfect gadget if the proportional control would be raplaced with e.g. 3 rotary encoders and a simple switch for a total of 6 degrees of freedom. At it present form you will be moving 2-3 controls at once.

Works great with Solidworks 2013/2014. This mouse is fully functional and able to program it to Solidworks drop downs. I've been using this mouse for a few weeks now and it's a real time saver. I would recomend this to anybody!

I realized I could move just as well using my Logitec mouse with some programed buttons. I wish I hadn't bothered with this purchase. The quality however is very good, and I appreciate the potential of this device. I'm just able to make much use of it.
