I ended up sending this camera back as the image quality was quite poor iMO. I use Nikon FF, Fuji Mirroless and a Panasonic LX-3 as a PS. My LX-3 has way better image quality. I liked that the camera was small, compact and made very well. Unfortunately, I either received a lemon or my standards for IQ are too high. I found the lens to basically show mush other than anything right in the center at various apertures even mid apertures like f/8 and f/11 looked terrible in my opinion. I was very surprised actually as the Fuji mirrorless system is great and image quality phenomenal. Sorry, I tried to like this camera unfortunately anyone who cares about image quality should look elsewhere. Too bad Fuji, maybe round 2 you'll get it right. I only shoot RAW and even created my own custom color profile for the camera using an X-rite Passport color checker/profiler. I did not test jpegs as I never shoot jpegs so perhaps the in-camera processing is better than the RAW file output.

Comments about XQ1 Digital Camera (Black):

This is the first camera I've had, other than an iPhone. It's great. The photos are clear, and it's easy to use. The battery seems to drain fast, although it charges back pretty quickly. I'd recommend getting an extra battery.

Comments about XQ1 Digital Camera (Black):

I'm a professional event photographer and was looking for a decent compact camera to carry around
        for casual/Informal shooting...

After owning this camera for a nice couple of weeks now, I can say with certainty that this is probably the best compact camera with such Phenomenal and Vibrant Image Quality for its relatively low price.

Regarding video quality is a different story:

I also happen to own the Canon S120 and video quality (Auto Focus as well) significantly surpasses the Fujifilm XQ1.

        Thank you!

Comments about XQ1 Digital Camera (Black):

Many people want a camera that is easy to use but still delivers high quality images. This is what I was looking for for my wife, and I chose the XQ1 based on the extremely successfully mirrorless system cameras Fuji has been putting out recently.

Great decision. My wife has not used RAW yet, but the JPG's out of the camera are extremely sharp, free of noise, with good contrast and color. I still import them into Lightroom but rarely find much to improve. The larger sensor makes a huge difference in results compared to lower-end point and shoot cameras.

The automatic and semi-automatic modes of operation work well, even in high key situations or unusual lighting, most of the time. But when you want more control over the shooting process, all the necessary settings are accessible via the menu. I've told my wife to try to stay at ISO 800 or less, and we have seen absolutely no issues with noise.

The camera is very compact and easy to take with you anywhere. There's no reason to settle for a camera phone when this is just as easy to carry and much easier to use. Highly recommended for the many photographers who don't want to learn intricacies of a complex camera but still want - and deserve - high quality images.

Comments about XQ1 Digital Camera (Black):

After some weeks using it, I don't have any major complain about the XQ1, by far… It is now my daily partner wherever I go…
It's easy to use, very responsive, and really powerfull as far as image quality is concerned for a « point & shoot » cam.
Thanks to the clear lens, you can get great shoots in low light conditions, especially at wide angle.
Body is well built and commands are easy to customise.

In my opinion, this "mini X20" beats Nikon's P330/340 as well as Canon's S120 and other P&S in the range of highly pocketable cameras. Sony's RX100 has even better image quality in general, but has no wide angle lens, and is less responsive…

Comments about XQ1 Digital Camera (Black):

The best camera is the one you have in your pocket. I enjoy skiing and hiking and like to travel light, so my camera needs to fit in my pocket. It must also have a sharp lens and shoot RAW. The XQ1 fits the bill. One outstanding feature: Outdoor Mode makes the screen incredibly bright so you can see what you're shooting in very bright conditions. My choice really came down to the XQ1 or a Canon S120, but the Canon is a bit soft in the corners for landscape photography. The XQ1 menus are easy to navigate and, despite what you may hear, the latest version of Photoshop and/or Lightroom do a great job processing Fuji RAW files. The SONY RX100 was too pricey for me and I wanted something a bit wider than 28mm. Please note at full wide angle, the XQ1 outputs a slightly wider image in RAW then in JPEG - yet both images are 4,000 x 3,000 pixels. The JPEG is slightly cropped and apparently up sampled back to 4,000 x 3,000 pixels. I work in RAW so this is of no concern to me. Overall, an excellent pocket camera for landscape photos.

So far so good with this camera. Picture quality is what we were hoping for. There's a lot happening on the automatic settings, so I would recommend reading the manual thoroughly. There's lots more to learn. Not sure yet if this would be the best choice for someone looking for a simple point and shoot, but otherwise the camera has met expectations so far.

A touch-screen would have made it just about perfect. Screen is nice and bright outdoors even in the sun. Been waiting a long time for a camera this small and capable.

I bought the XQ1 so I could have a nice, small camera that is always with me for casual pictures and video. It's built very well, has nice manual controls, and the picture quality is very good. The AF speed is quite fast (for a compact camera) and the camera is responsive with relatively low shutter lag.On the other hand, I found the XQ1 video to be less impressive. The video quality is okay. I would rate it about average for this class of camera. The continuous AF in video mode is not very good though. It occasionally fails to lock focus and hunts for a while, even on high contrast scenes. Maybe Fujifilm will fix this later with a firmware upgrade? In summary: This camera is small, compact and well-built. It takes excellent pictures and the manual controls are easy to use, which is nice if you're used to a DSLR. However, the video quality is average and continuous AF in video mode isn't that great. I would recommend the XQ1 if you want a very small, pocketable camera for pictures, and if you only record videos rarely (or if you record videos in manual focus mode, which works nicely with the control ring).

I've been searching for a long time for a truly pocketable, high quality camera that works great in low light. This is the one. Image quality is very high, even at night. I tried the Sony RX 100 (too small and fiddly controls), the Canon S120 (not as good in low light), etc and the Fuji beats them all. Highly recommended.
