It is always a love / hate relationship shooting my Fujis. I have to fight them at every turn. The sensor on the Fuji X is superb. It is a 5 star+ sensor. It is very close to the Leica M240 sensor in IQ. I own 6 Fujis and 4 Leicas and I use both systems extensively. With color rendition the Fuji X may be a little superior to Leica. But that is where the benefits end for the Fuji other than the light weight and price. The BIG benefit the Leica offers over the Fuji is simplicity and full manual controls.OK, Fuji has a big jump on price over Leica. I use Fuji as disposable cameras. I can't afford to do that with my Leicas. And some people prefer the tank like weight of the Leica over the empty shell feeling of the Fuji. Sometimes I am very happy for the light weight Fuji and other days I appreciate the solid feeling Leica. So both extremes have their benefits. The problem with the Fuji is the screwy designs that make it hell to shoot in fast or tough lighting situations. The 'focus by wire' is one of the worst inventions a camera company ever came up with. Fuji's AF performance is very poor. They have improved this somewhat. But in tough lighting situations it still fails to lock over numerous tries and the shot is gone. You landscape and snapshots shooters wont mind these problems. But serious street and doc photogs will not enjoy dealing with these issues. The only way I am able to bring home the photos is to shoot my Fuji like a Leica…with minimal settings and manually. But when I do that the Fuji flash wont fire. I've lost a few shots that way. When the camera is in 'stealth mode' the flash wont work. Another genius design by Fuji. The trend for Fuji is to dumb down their lenses removing aperture settings and focus scales. Just terrible. The Fuji lenses generally speaking have excellent to outstanding IQ. The problem with their lenses is the lack of manual control, focus by wire that is next to useless and the controls are so loose I need to use gaffers tape to keep them on target. I was discussing the lack of distance scale on Fuji's lenses with a Fuji fan boy. He mentioned that one could zone focus the new school Fuji lenses with no distance markings by using the viewing screen or EVF to see the electronic focus scale. Many times you cannot raise the camera to your eye to see the distance scale. You will be noticed or there is no time to fudge around. I could tell by his remarks he was no street shooter. Anyone that suggested this technique over a traditional focus scale on the lens knows very little about street / fast shooting.Let me contrast how zone focus can be done on the well thought out Leica. If you have ever handled Leica or Zeiss lenses you will notice they have a protrusion to grip when focusing. The finger grip can be used to zone focus the lens without even looking at the camera. If you know where a '3 o'clock' setting equals in feet, you can set the lens focus as low key as one could hope for. Contrast this to the fan boy that ahs to put the camera up to his face to set focus. This stealthy focusing benefit can only be appreciated by hard core street and documentary photographers. Everyone else that can take their time shooting wont need this option. But it is an important focusing tool to have available if one needs it. If we look at the rangefinder focusing method it is not that fast of a focus system. A DSLR manual focus is better. The Fuji AF, on a good day, is much faster than the rangefinder for focusing. The benefit of the rangefinder focusing system is; it is a more positive focus method when we compare it to the Fuji AF that is refusing to set focus. No one is claiming that a rangefinder will out focus the Fuji X when it comes to speed. The benefit of the rangefinder focus system is that of zone focusing ease and no shutter lag. The aperture is already set, focus is set and you can fire at will with no lag. With the Fuji X, one must work around these lag areas. You cannot relax when shooting a Fuji, you have to battle the AF as well as the lag. The only way I get the shots I do with the Fuji is to shoot the Fuji like a Leica and not like a Fuji. There are very few things lacking in the digital arsenal available to photographers nowadays. The top of the list in 'needs' is an affordable digital alternative to the Leica. (Another vacuum in the needs would be an affordable 6mp FF digital back for the Hasselblad. Lets say in the $[$]range.) Leicas used to be a very reliable workhorse for pros worldwide. But Leica has become a greedy, bloated shell of what it used to be. ($200 battery, $50 shoulder strap, $30 plastic body cap...) A reliable, affordable Japanese Leica knockoff would be most welcome.

This is a mild upgrade to X-E1, it has the same excellent image quality but it is not mature enough to replace a DSLR for a wroking pro. The cons are image quality, low noise in both RAW and JPEG, sharp, high quality lenses and manual controls.
It dissapoints when it comes to AF peroformance, AF tracking is basically a joke and not even close to low end DSLR. Servo is untsable with some lenses such as 35mm f/1.4 and keeps hunting.
shutter lag makes taking shots in a hurry very difficult and shot to shot lag prohibits immidiate repeats. overal it has no use for even slow moving subjects or dynamic scenes.

The finder is choppy at times, when it is first turned on or when camera wakes up, it is really annoying. sometimes the refresh rate is nice and smooth but not always.

WiFi function is a joke, it's clunky and useless.

This is not a primary camera if your photography extends beyond stationry subjects.

needs at least 3 batteries to last a day of shoot

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

Great little camera!!! I also have the X-T1 which I use Fuji lenses with.
But the X-E2 I use it with my Leica and zeiss lenses! The camera is small and light! If I use the 27mm pan cake lens I can put the camera in my coat pocket.
By the way, You do need second battery! I have three!

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

I have had this camera for about 1 1/2 years, and love it. The images are great, and the firmware updates make it even more useful. You can update the firmware yourself by downloading it from the fujifilm website.

The images are really sharp and crisp because of the X-Trans sensor. The resolution is fantastic and you get great dynamic range depth from the raw images.

You can remote control the camera via the built-in WIFI and a smartphone. The camera's image appears on the smartphone, and you can control various camera funtions. Great for long time exposures where you absolutely DON'T want to even breathe on the camera.

You have to be careful about the exposure compensation dial. It is easy to turn if you aren't careful.

This is my second body. The original one went to Fuji for cleaning.

I never thought I would say this but in some cases it out performs my D7100. That is saying a lot, it is lighter and perfectly suited for street work. Sharpness trough out even at over 200% crop.

2 words, slow focusing. Can't say it any better than that and I was shooting during the day with natural daylight and the 56mm fuji lens. I can't say enough about fuji lenses but this system's focusing was like pulling teeth with no Novocaine.

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

I bought this camera because carrying my Nikon and lenses around got to be literally a pain in the neck. I also wanted to simplify. This X-E2 and the 35mm f/1.4 lens have been perfect. I've been able to enlarge my photos to 16X20, so I'd say the resolution of both the sensor and lens are more than adequate. When I hear the shutter click, it so reminds me of my old Leica IIIf, and the feel is nearly the same as that, but the view through the electronic viewfinder is obviously much better. The high ISO performance is really good. I use auto ISO with a top setting of 6400. I am now able to carry my camera with me nearly everywhere, and it has operated flawlessly. This camera has rejuvenated my photography.

If you need a lightweight technical camera, this will do the job. I've teamed it with the 60mm macro lens for scientific and museum collections photography. The small size, light weight, good electronic cable release and outstanding image quality make this much easier to manage than the full frame DSLR I was using for the same work. Low noise makes it hand-holdable at low light levels without flash.

Bought this gem to bring along to everyday outings when my full gear would be too much. The x-e2 is light but packs a big punch when it comes to dynamic range, color and contrast. The focus has been sharp and fast. The learning curve was not very long from having canon slr's for so long. I'm completely happy with my purchase and this camera system is doing exactly what I wanted from it.

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Silver, Body Only):

I purchased this camera as a small, light weight, high performance still picture camera. I am already an owner/user of the Fuji X-Series camera with both the X-100S and the X-T1 and several of the Fuji lenses for the platform. So I was already familiar with the platform, the lenses, the camera menus and have been so very pleased with them. Staying within the series made sense for me. Having said all that, I find the X-E2 to be every bit of the camera I was expecting. In fact, I have it with me almost all of the time with the 35mm 1.4 on it. For more intentional use I have mounted the 18-55mm, the 56mm 1.2 and the 14mm 2.8. All are great performers and good experiences but I will comment that the 14mm was especially excellent on this body while doing architecture photography. I do not use the Fuji camera for video so no comment on that. If I have to find a fault I will choose the battery performance - it could be better. But I carry multiple charged batteries in my kit so it is never actually an issue.

Yes, I am a fan of this platform.

I use this camera as my main everyday carry and travel camera. Paired with a fast prime lens like the Fujinon 23mm f1.4 it is really versatile and easy to toss in your bag and head out for a day or errands or shooting or both. The size, weight and image quality are fantastic is the easy access to nearly all the settings that are necessary to shoot in full manual and have full control without having to navigate any menus except for ISO. Would love to have a third dedicated dial for ISO but you can get that with the X-T1. The battery life is not great so make sure to have an extra battery or two with you.

I got this to replace an APS-C DSLR camera and I'm very glad I did. The Fuji X-E2 weighs less and outperforms the DSLR I referred to. That is a win/win situation. I"m thinking about buying another one so I can keep one lens on each.

Bought this after having an xe-1, wanted a second backup body. Small improvements, but they do improve the overall shooting experience.

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black, Body Only):

My very first 'real' camera was a Fuji ST-801 slr that I got as a kid in the 70s. I loved it until it was stolen.Since then, I've had a whole Nikon 35mm system, Kowa, Bronica and Hasselblad medium format systems (I kept the 'blads), followed by my first foray into digital with a Sony DSC-R1.The technological improvements from the Sony (2006?) are simply mind-blowing. I really enjoy all of the options, from full manual to full automatic, the advanced filters, panorama, etc., all of which I find easily accessible through sensible menus and well-placed dials and customizeable buttons. It can do what you want it to do.I'm very happy with the size, weight and ergonomics, though I've tried it with some of the bigger lenses, which made if front-heavy. I'm sticking with primes. I recommend the Lensmate thumb rest to really make it a joy to hold.Image quality is simply spectacular--and that's relying on out-of-camera JPEGs.It's not without its quirks. The shutter is louder than I'd like; shooting panoramas is like firing a machine gun. You can't use the flash when in 'silent mode,' which is just weird. And you'd better have a second charged battery handy as soon as the indicator shows anything but full charge; the time between 3/4 charge and dead is VERY short. The only thing I really wish it had was a tilting LCD.I spent about three months researching which camera system to buy into. This is the one for me. The variety and quality of lenses is terrific.

Comments about X-E2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Silver, Body Only):

This camera is just a ton of fun. Cross-graded to mirrorless from DSLR (Canon 60D and a bag full of lenses) in a last ditch effort to save my hobby from irrelevance due to "good enough" syndrome (i.e., "it's a lot of weight to carry around my DSLR...I have to switch bags all the time between work and shooting, or carry one giant bag everywhere...I'd rather be opportunistic in my shooting than forced/planned all the time...well, I guess my iPhone is good enough"). So far, it has worked like a frickin' charm. The quality of the output is essentially just as good, and the mild lack/annoyance of things like somewhat slower autofocus, somewhat slower "wake up," the slightly weird frame-rate lag of the EVF, etc are all MORE than made up for by the sheer bringability of it, and refreshing usability of it (easy access to all of the settings you need, omission of all that you don't). Not to mention the white hot looks: "I like looking at it" = "I keep it with me more often."Oh yeah, and then there's Fuji's top-class glass. #winningCouldn't be happier with it, super glad I made the switch. Not quite where it needs to be if you're a pro, but I couldn't recommend it more highly for anyone who's shooting for FUN—because that's exactly what this pretty little thing delivers.
