I have been a extreme sports photographer back in film days but nothing since DSLR's have come about so this was my first foray into anything beyond a Nikon D40x for personal work. Now we are putting together a studio I opted for the Nikon D610 and I am very impressed. The camera has a wealth of features and is fantastic in low light. In fact, in low light it can take better pictures than you can see. With an ISO setting up to 6,400 it's just about as fast as you could need. The kit lens is a great piece of glass and I am happy that I can use some of my more expensive D40X lenses with the new set up even if they won't give full frame.I would recommend this camera for anyone wanting a sensible full frame camera.

I bought this camera so that I could have two cameras to use and not fuss over switching lenses. My other camera was a Nikon D300 with a Tamron 200-500mm zoom lens. (Stolen a few days before this one arrived.) I find the body on the D610 is lighter and I am still trying to get used to the button and switch setups on this compared to the D300 which I had owned for five years. I find the D610 takes more brilliant landsacpe photos and the pictures tend to be really clear. I purchased mine with the 28-300mm lens. So far, I need to practice more taking wildlife photos with it. The spot and center focus on the D610 is hard to figure out. I find Nikon as usual writes a lousy users manual. The D610 has a video mode which I have also yet to figure out, but from my perspective, I think a good camera should not have video. I bought it to take pictures not film things. Do not try to use the automatic mode in low light. The flash will pop up and will flash when you do not want it. I found it best to manually input settings and then use those. The automatic mode was good when I was not sure if I needed flash or not.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

it's my all around camera. i went from the d80 to this camera. no comparison. still lots to learn. i've had nikon cameras since 1966. the only negative i find is the weight. shots are crisp and fresh, i don't feel like you have to use photoshop to help compose or edit the shots. great fx-format camera to get your feet wet.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

An excellent full frame camera for a serious photographer who is a bit of a tinkerer/electronic buff. I can't think of anything the Nikon designers omitted from the thousands of automation permutations contained in the menu system. Some salient features of the D610 are an easily accessible live view, the High Dynamic Range feature which can save hours of post-photo tinkering in the Photoshop, the Active D-Lighting and many others. One bummer of those who own a collection of DX format lenses is that they cannot get the benefit of the full frame. Unless they invest in FX format, they get a cropped version and a lower resolution.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

I've been using a Nikon D50 since it first came out almost a decade ago. I loved that camera and used it mostly to take pictures of buildings, landscape and everyday life. This camera, for someone who is not a photographer but uses her camera on a daily basis, is fantastic. It's lighter than the D800 and slightly less expensive.I travel a lot and I'm really looking forward to be shooting with my new toy.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

I thought that the D610 would overwhelm me but was pleasantly surprised. Having weened myself on the D70S made it easier to transition to the full frame era. I was able to set the menu controls to my liking and started shooting the first day. I shot landscapes, action, and closeups. The pics were comparable to seeing something after a cataract operation. The colors and clarity were amazing.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

Intended as primary camera for start-up photography business.Similar to Nikon D70 and D90 DSLR cameras previously used for personal-use and family photos.Excellent "auto-everything" capability makes for fantastic right-out-of-the-box use. Includes very useful scene-modes for starting out.Experimentation with other features and camera settings is daunting at first, but extremely rewarding in the results.Speed and quality of photos are amazing and testament to the quality of the product. The included 28-300 VR lens for the package purchased is outstanding and allows for a wide range of use in many environments and situations. Very pleased with the results after 2 weeks of non-stop use. The unit has performed brilliantly to date in landscape photots, ballet recitals, portrait sessions, wildlife captures, and a birthday party.

I switched from the D300 to D610 and could not be happier. The main reason for switching was High ISO picture quality. If you plan to shoot in regular day light, I think you can save money and buy a cheaper DSLR. So far I am amazed of the picture quality at iso6400.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

This is an entry full frame camera, great for any level photographer. I bought it as a gift for my Father. He is not a high-tech person, and this camera was simple and easy to use. Also love the lens that came with it, 28-300mm is perfect for him because he doesn't need to buy another lens (maybe). I was comparing this to Canon 6D, and finally settle on this for three reasons, 1. simple to use, 2. SD-Card slots, 3. nice lens that came with it.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

A friend of mine convinced me to purchase the Nikon D610 because it's size is just right for smaller hands to handle and the full-body frame would enable me to take some amazing landscape pictures. I am coming from a low end Nikon 3000 camera and for all of the frustrations at not having the bells and whistles - this new camera removes any doubt about the desires.

My husband thought the purchase would be an incentive for me to go out and starting taking lots of pictures again - he was right. I have been out every morning and every evening for the past two weeks and have taken some amazing pictures.

Previousely I owned a D5000, D7000 and still have the D7100 - the D610 was my first step up to full frame....and I love it! compared to the DX models it is really very affordable and the quality is top. It does not feel heavier than the D7100 which was my concern.....it is the FX lenses that make the whole equipment heavy. Nikon could really stop putting the little plastic cover over the back screen and replace it with a protective glass cover...it will get scratched soon.

Comments about Nikon D610 DSLR Camera with 28-300mm Lens:

This is my first full frame camera. It feels much heavier than my previous entry level camera at the beginning. But I am used to its weight now. Although the gripping needs a little bit improvement, overall it is a great camera.
The reason why I chose D600 instead of 6D is that first the dynamic range of D600 is much wider than 6D according to DxO mark. Second I already own some Nikon lenses and a SB700 flashlight. I chose 28-300 because it is convenient for traveling and taking some casual images, although the lens is already extremely sharp, much sharper than 18-105 on APSC cameras. But if Nikon could announce a lighter 28-200 VR lens, I think I would definitely purchase that one.

Nikon's new D610 is fantastic. Right out of the box, looked at the manual briefly and I was shooting pictures .I like the two SD memory card slots very much for double the amount of shots or back-up. Good distribution in weight and firm grip with lens attached. Compact feel not a problem, was using coolpix cameras so I stepped up to full frame-pro. Battery consumption with ENEL-15 excellent!!! The picture quality is indescribable, at 24 megapixels it's exactly what you need. Photographs can be enlarged to 16x20 and still have plenty of detail with no noise. The lens is all purpose, 28 wide-300 telephoto, and provides crisp shots mounted on tripod or handheld. Very comfortable to hold, fits well in my hand.Easy to read f-stops, along with auto or manual switches on the barrel. I found no distortion at either end of the range of the lens. The lens hood will not securely mount tight as much as I would like it to. I will purchase another D610 in the months ahead as a back-up. camera. Other than the lens hood I find the D610 the camera to own if you plan to step-up to the next level.
