Comments about Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I carried this tripod all over Europe for over three weeks and over 2000 photos, slung over my back. It is compact enough to easily carry, yet tall enough to comfortable use at 6'1". I put a full frame Nikon DSLR on it with a 70mm lens and it was as stable as could be. The carbon fiber looks so nice I was a little security conscious walking around at night. I would get a case to conceal how awesome it looks when walking around crowded city streets. The only change I made was that there comes a plastic leg tightening wrench that clips onto one of the legs and I was afraid of losing it. It has provisions for a tiedown so I simply attached a piece of string from the plastic wrench to the tripod leg. I am extremely happy with this tripod and expect years of use out of it.

Comments about Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I debated about getting the PRO3 version of this tripod (which has 3-segment legs) but opted to buy this one instead, because with each leg broken into 4 segments, the tripod collapses down to a smaller size for ease of storage, carrying, etc... But this IS still a full-sized tripod, and there is no way to make it fold down to pocket-size. It's going to be big and clunky and a pain to lug around, no matter whether it has 3-segment or 4-segment legs. The leg segments on this PRO4 (particularly those segments at the very bottom of the legs) are disturbingly thin - honestly, not much thicker than a Sharpie marker, when you extend the very bottom leg segments! When you need to get the tripod up high (and extend all of the leg segments), it's just not quite as stable as I feel an Italian-made carbon fiber tripod (of this price) should be. Although the PRO3 version of this tripod won't fold to quite as small of a size, I've got to believe that with only 3 leg segments (each of which will be thicker than the PRO4's), the PRO3 would be the more stable of the two. And at the end of the day, you buy a tripod to keep your camera stable while shooting, right? The tiny bit of "compactness" that you get from the PRO4 just isn't worth the stability that you give up. That being said, it is certainly well built and it's not dangerously wobbly, but I've used carbon fiber Manfrotto tripods (with 3-segment legs) in the past, and they definitely felt more solid. Keep this in mind as you're buying.

Comments about Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I used this tripod for the first time on a four day studio product job. Love how easy it is to use and responsive. The flip release on the legs allows me to move quickly. The center column that turns into a side arm was perfect for shooting product from directly overhead. Very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I ordered this from BHPhoto the other week and I have to tell you I am in love with it. The construction and ease of use is just amazing. I was worried that if I purchased this it might not work for me as well as some of my other Manfrotto tripods have ever it was great as good if not better than some of the ones I have already.. It is also the perfect size to go on the new Manfrotto pro light bag that I purchased as well. The weight is just perfect as I spent last weekend walking around with the backpack on with the tripod securely mounted to the backpack.

I have been though a lot of cheaper tripods before I got this one. I should have listened to my friends and got an good/expensive one a while ago and not wasted the money. Easy to use, sturdy, LOVE IT!

Comments about Manfrotto MT190CXPRO4 Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I'm coming from the Manfrotto 190CX3 Carbon Fiber Tripod. It was a beautiful tripod, rock solid, reliable... that was until I ran it over. The carbon fiber survived flawlessly but the metal hinge sheered (impressed it handled that much stress so well). So needless to say I had to replace it.

The things I liked about the CX3:
              Compactness
              Lever action to release legs
              Weight
              Functionality

I was spoiled by the CX3. So I did some research and I landed on the upgraded MT190CXPRO4. It has everything I like and more. The weight change wasn't terrible, an increase by 0.6 lbs. The compactness was better by an inch. I also gained nearly 6 inches of height which I felt was something the CX3 lacked, that extra height matters when you're working on a slope or irregular terrain. The levers also have more snap to them. It feels as if they really lock down, clean and crisp. And the functionality, which is pretty much parallel, feels much more rugged and well built. But this all comes at the expense of another $200.

Overall I'm impressed with the tripod and I can definitely feel where that extra $200 went. If you're on a budget; you wont be disappointed with the 190CX3. But if you have the money; this is a great way to spend it wisely.

I'd also recommend pairing this with the Acratech GP ballhead. If you're like me shooting at the most bizzare angles known to man and looking for a high performance, easy to clean ballhead; look no further. Dirt, dust, sand, water, or the occasional vicious lion... works through it all. It's a work of art. And it's also made in the USA.
