At one point Pocket Wizards were the only reliable radio triggers around. Anything else, especially cheap Chinese triggers were referred to as "Poverty Wizards". Phottix was considered a decent "Poverty Wizard" at one point but now they have come out with a superior product. I needed an alternative to the FlexTT5 because they became consistently unreliable in non-studio settings. That is why I bought the Odins and they have proven to be so much more easy to use and so much more reliable. The transmitter is quite similar to my beloved Nikon SU-800 transmitter which I love but wished it were radio instead of IR. The only con that I can think of is that the build quality of the receivers do not seem as rugged as their PW counterparts.

I purchased the Odin system shortly after it first came out and it has worked great with my Nikon D7000. However, I upgraded to the D750 recently and it is a no go. I contacted Phottix directly and they say it is a hardware issue. I will need to send my Odin trigger to Hong Kong to get,a replacement. Although I expect to have this resolved without issue, this is not what I'd describe as world class production.

Pocket Wizzards are about the same cost and always work flawlessly. The Odin though, arguably adds more remote flash control than PW.

Easy to use right out of the box. The batteries that come with the units do not last long, so be prepared with a fresh set of batteries. Works great!

      Great triggers

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

Received these and went out to test them on my Nikon D600. Worked straight out of the box first time, every time. Easy to use and set up. Just wish the receivers worked as transceivers so I didn't need the control head for field work.

      Wireless triggers

      By Fastpics

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

We needed a set of wireless triggers that were capable of TTL flash. Were going to go with PW, but when all features were compaired with Phottix and the price was figured in, it seemed like a no brainer. But still being unsure of which way to go, I started reading the reviews. Yep, they convinced me, and am I glad they did. For a lot less money, these guys do everything my buddies PWs do! He so impressed with the value, he is going to get a set for his second kit. You can ballance, proportion, TTL and more, right from the camera.....no more running back and forth. All I can say is.....GET EM!...You will not be dissapointed.

After extensive research, I decided to purchase the Phottix Odin Wireless Set. I'm so happy I did! It's simple to set up and really easy to use. My only wish is that Phottix would have included a small storage case with the set.

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

Isn't it great when you buy a product that is significantly cheaper than the competition and yet it simply works and is totally reliable? Compared with other triggers, I don't have to turn the trigger set in any specific order or deal with a host of reliability issues or inconsistent firing. A big plus is that the lit LCD screen is very useful if you are working in the dark.

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

As an enthusiastic amateur I was shopping for a TTL trigger set that wouldn't break the bank. My only regret is that I didn't purchase these sooner.
After a quick glance at the instructions I found the controls on the transmitter (TCU) to be easy to understand and use. I'm shooting with two SB800s slaved to a D800. I've only taken these out on two shoots so I can't yet comment with authority on the build quality or longevity however the units have performed flawlessly so far. I am also pleased that both the transmitter and receivers use AA batteries.

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

I just received the unit today, and have only used it in my house. It is already heads and shoulders better than my PW PlusIII. I was so sick of missing shots because my flashes wouldn't fire. I've tested this unit quite a bit, not one missed shot! I took it all the way up to 1/8000th, ISO 1000, and the TTL worked beautifully. The plastic housing of the control unit feels a bit cheap, and the plastic for the remotes is definitely a lower grade. Never the less they seem reasonably well built. I expect to baby these to some degree so I'm not overly worried. The ability to adjust each speed light +/- 3 stops remotely is a dream come true. I don't know how I worked so long with an inferior product. Recommended!

The actual phottix odin product worked flawlessly as advertised, my only complaint is that the batteries that comes with the unit leaked only after a few days of use. i cleaned out the product, and put in a more reliable battery and everything works fine.

This is the first radio trigger I have owned, so I can't compare them with others. I found them fairly easy to figure out, and they seem to work. It is nice to be able to control the flash EV compensation directly on the control unit rather than going into the camera menu as you have to do with the Nikon CLS.

These are great! They just work. Got it home, installed new batteries, plugged everything in as directed and - viola, flash! That is the best thing I can say. When you get yours throw away the batteries that come with it - they are garbage. Not a big deal as you should never use batteries that you get with electronics anyway. If you get these you'll never regret it!

Everything works great except if you are wanting to use an external flash on your camera it wont work with what comes in the package. You will need to get a hot shoe extended and "rig" it together on the camera itself.

I have been shooting portrait sessions with a non-TTL system and always had problems getting proper lighting done. With this system this makes it very easy and efficient, especially because I don't need to walks over and manually adjust the lights. I can highly recommend this product!!!

I previously used a Nikon SU800 controller to fire my (4) SB800's, but with the difficulty of "line of sight and bright light problems outdoors, decided to try the Phottix products. The Odin controller is just like using the SU800, so was immediately comfortable with it.

I used it with 2 receiver units on an outdoor shoot over the weekend and had NO MISFIRES at all in bright Calif. sun at mid-day. Product performs exactly as advertised shooting TTL or manual.

Really happy with the solid build and ease of performance. YES.... I'd recommend to any Nikon shooter that does off camera flash photography!

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

I had been looking for a radio trigger for my nikon for quite some time. Always cringed at the price of the pocket wizard, and never liked the extra attachment stuff you would need to use with radiopopper systems. Researched youtube and B&H. Bang for your buck, Phottix Odin system. The only down fall i see is that you are limited to 300' range? Really? Never have i found myself needing 300' plus of range, so to me this is no downfall.
Gives me freedom to set up my 3 light system (did purchase extra reciever) 2 Nikon SB900 and 1 SB800
Straight forward, ttl, and manual mode. High speed syns has been great!!! can control power output, and even disable light at commander on camera. No screwing with in camera menus. You do have to download directions from disc. Also have usb port for updating. does come with sync cord, so you can use them with studio lights as well.
very happy to finally have something that will work in direct daylight, without fail and without wires!!!!

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

Very easy to use out of the box, and the system seems to be reliable for the few times I used it thus far.

The trigger and the two receivers feel light, and I would have preferred to see a heavier durable-like plastic. I am not sure how long the hardware will stand up.

                                  So far so good ;-)
