At one point Pocket Wizards were the only reliable radio triggers around. Anything else, especially cheap Chinese triggers were referred to as "Poverty Wizards". Phottix was considered a decent "Poverty Wizard" at one point but now they have come out with a superior product. I needed an alternative to the FlexTT5 because they became consistently unreliable in non-studio settings. That is why I bought the Odins and they have proven to be so much more easy to use and so much more reliable. The transmitter is quite similar to my beloved Nikon SU-800 transmitter which I love but wished it were radio instead of IR. The only con that I can think of is that the build quality of the receivers do not seem as rugged as their PW counterparts.

I purchased the Odin system shortly after it first came out and it has worked great with my Nikon D7000. However, I upgraded to the D750 recently and it is a no go. I contacted Phottix directly and they say it is a hardware issue. I will need to send my Odin trigger to Hong Kong to get,a replacement. Although I expect to have this resolved without issue, this is not what I'd describe as world class production.

Pocket Wizzards are about the same cost and always work flawlessly. The Odin though, arguably adds more remote flash control than PW.

I am a full time wedding and engagement photographer. I use multiple lights at shoots, including an Einstein strobe. I had finally had enough of the cyber synch transmitters and receivers never firing when I wanted them to. I am soooooo happy I bought these!! They fire ever time! Buy them now! You won't regret it!

I thought power adjustment wasn't working on my SB800's when pressing TEST button, but all I had to do was put transmitter on camera, and it WORKS. 1/3 STOP UP AND DOWN AS PER ON FLASH.
I had no luck wiith Radiopoppers, this seems much more robust.

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

I just got them and from the beginning have been a problem. First, it was extremely difficult to set them up, everyone and everywhere make it seem easy, but no, I spent 6 hours trying to find out how to trigger the flashes once the basics are done (Basics = TCU on camera, flaches on receptors) What was the problem? I had to update the firmware of the Phottix, from 1.04 to 1.06. I don't understand why if the last version they created was on 2013, I buy this new product on 2015 and it comes with the 1.04 version. But well, I did it and I thought I had worked it out. They were working, but not correctly, I tried once and again to learn to use them and again, the system failed, is like the TCU doesn't recognize the camera. I just can say that if I lived in New York City or al least inside the US. I definitely send them back. No product which is so expensive should have so much problems, besides, there's no good customer service on this product, no one knows anything, if you have a problem, you're by your own. I'm so disappointed on this product.

I switched from the major manufacturer of TTL transceivers after reading about the Phottix Odin system. So far, I have not had a misfire and I love that I can control not only my Nikon flashes, but my Phottix Indra 500 at the same time. They seem to be made from a suitable plastic. I do wish the transmitter on the camera was a little smaller, but I love the size of the screen on the back. I may upgrade to the OdinII when it's out but who knows when that will be. Working great so far!

Received these and went out to test them on my Nikon D600. Worked straight out of the box first time, every time. Easy to use and set up. Just wish the receivers worked as transceivers so I didn't need the control head for field work.

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

We needed a set of wireless triggers that were capable of TTL flash. Were going to go with PW, but when all features were compaired with Phottix and the price was figured in, it seemed like a no brainer. But still being unsure of which way to go, I started reading the reviews. Yep, they convinced me, and am I glad they did. For a lot less money, these guys do everything my buddies PWs do! He so impressed with the value, he is going to get a set for his second kit. You can ballance, proportion, TTL and more, right from the camera.....no more running back and forth. All I can say is.....GET EM!...You will not be dissapointed.

Isn't it great when you buy a product that is significantly cheaper than the competition and yet it simply works and is totally reliable? Compared with other triggers, I don't have to turn the trigger set in any specific order or deal with a host of reliability issues or inconsistent firing. A big plus is that the lit LCD screen is very useful if you are working in the dark.

As an enthusiastic amateur I was shopping for a TTL trigger set that wouldn't break the bank. My only regret is that I didn't purchase these sooner.
After a quick glance at the instructions I found the controls on the transmitter (TCU) to be easy to understand and use. I'm shooting with two SB800s slaved to a D800. I've only taken these out on two shoots so I can't yet comment with authority on the build quality or longevity however the units have performed flawlessly so far. I am also pleased that both the transmitter and receivers use AA batteries.

I just received the unit today, and have only used it in my house. It is already heads and shoulders better than my PW PlusIII. I was so sick of missing shots because my flashes wouldn't fire. I've tested this unit quite a bit, not one missed shot! I took it all the way up to 1/8000th, ISO 1000, and the TTL worked beautifully. The plastic housing of the control unit feels a bit cheap, and the plastic for the remotes is definitely a lower grade. Never the less they seem reasonably well built. I expect to baby these to some degree so I'm not overly worried. The ability to adjust each speed light +/- 3 stops remotely is a dream come true. I don't know how I worked so long with an inferior product. Recommended!

Comments about Phottix Odin Wireless TTL Trigger Set with Two Receivers for Nikon:

The actual phottix odin product worked flawlessly as advertised, my only complaint is that the batteries that comes with the unit leaked only after a few days of use. i cleaned out the product, and put in a more reliable battery and everything works fine.

These work flawlessly. The first thing I would suggest is to throw away the batteries that come with these and start fresh.

This is the first radio trigger I have owned, so I can't compare them with others. I found them fairly easy to figure out, and they seem to work. It is nice to be able to control the flash EV compensation directly on the control unit rather than going into the camera menu as you have to do with the Nikon CLS.

These are great! They just work. Got it home, installed new batteries, plugged everything in as directed and - viola, flash! That is the best thing I can say. When you get yours throw away the batteries that come with it - they are garbage. Not a big deal as you should never use batteries that you get with electronics anyway. If you get these you'll never regret it!
